About Me

"I gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which I must stop and look fear in the face...I say to myself, I've lived through this & can take the next thing that comes along...We must do things we think we cannot do" Eleanor Roosevelt

This page is NOT designed to dispense any therapeutic advice. We simply wanted to create a place where people, whether you are in high school, college, or working full time with children can come to, find commonality and support one another. What we want to do is REMOVE the stero-type that eating disorders are glamorous, selfish, or harmless. Eating disorders take many forms and affect men and women differently. We want to educate those who do not have a eating disorder and listen to those that do. We want to tell the dark, unhappy, depressing side of eating disorders that much of the time gets glossed over. Three women decided to come forward and create this page. Three strong women, three different stories united to break down the wall of invisible shame that holds too many of us back. To me this page is about shedding light on how women are objectified belittled and almost seen as worthless if not perceived attractive. I want to expose this expectation without reinforcing and circulating the mindset behind it. "Sex sales," so they say, however it is not right to be objectified and used, as well as in the process being told what we should look like. This page to me is made for supporting and bringing up women, while reminding them to forget what others want you to be or look like and instead be you! And that,is REAL beauty!-Missy
