The idea of Pomeroy started in the summer of 1997. Two college
friends, Matt Marron and David Fairbanks, wanted to create a band that
crossed the best parts of underground hip-hop with the best parts of
old school funk. "We were thinking the verses would have "A Tribe
Called Quest" kind of feel and the chorus's would be like an "Earth
Wind and Fire" type of thing, big, poppy, and harmonius." The two
recorded a rough demo in Los Angeles a few months later to hear what
this vision would sound like on tape. It didn't take long to realize
they had something special. It also didn't take long to realize that
hard rock, Marron's main influence since childhood, was creeping it's
way into the writing. After months of passing around the demo, a
chance meeting brought in Dean Hopkins and Chris Davis to complete the
rhythm section. They had their first practice in April 98 and their
first show two weeks later.
After 8 years of constant touring and after releasing 2 LP's, 2
EP's, and a DVD, Pomeroy took it's first break to write what would
become the band's greatest work of music yet. "A New Reflection" was
released in Oct. 2007 and is Pomeroy's perfect blend of rock, pop, and
hip-hop. The first single released, "The Beat Goes On", reached 400
spins/week on Hot AC Top 40 radio across the country. Pomeroy is
currently touring in support of the new album and their mission is to
get "A New Reflection" into the hands of every music lover in the
country.
