Animals and nature are my greatest love, in the middle of the forest, surrounded by nature I'm in heaven. I also enjoy gardening, skiing, hiking, swimming, tennis, dancing, live theatre, museums.
I have very strong opinions on animal rights, conservation, pollution, wildlife management and recycling. I have yet to lash myself to a vessel used for the seal hunt but...I have had my moments. I am active in the local animal care networks both domestic and wildlife.
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." ~Mahatma Gandhi
I'd like to meet:
I love meeting new people. My interests are varied and I can usually carry on a conversation with just about anyone. Be forewarned though, I ask alot of questions. I love to learn about people, places and cultures.
I look for mutually enriching friendships with real, honest, fun, compassionate and caring people. People who are emotionally available and who have the ability to share their feelings openly and honestly. People who will accept me as imperfect. I am not seeking perfection in others, I am seeking authenticity. People with self respect, who values themselves, others and the world around them. I want to offer the same caring and acceptance for who they are. I ask for no more than what I can offer.
My higher power may be interesting to chat with too. I wonder why I so often go in the wrong direction. Only to to start all over again. I know there is a reason, everything happens for a reason.
"If you talk with the animals, they will talk with you, and you will know each other. If you don't talk with them, you will not know them, and what you do not know, you fear. What one fears, one destroys." ~Chief Dan George
Talking with the animals requires a broader meaning of talk. It's actually more about listening, listening with your eyes, ears, mind, and senses, and being open to receiving what they are trying to convey to us.

Music:
I enjoy a variety of music, Secret Garden, Loreena Mckennitt, Clannad, Enya, Nickleback, Queensryche, Pink Floyd...
Movies:
I don't watch many movies although, I do have some favourites.
Shindler's List: was a very powerful movie for me. I am not jewish but, I believe it was probably a fairly accurate portrayal.
Philadelphia: a movie on homosexual love. So often the media only shows the seedy side of homosexuality, this was about genuine loving and caring.
A Beautiful Mind: for the insight into a serious mental illness and the ability to succeed through such adversity.
The Notebook: a very touching love story "You are every reason, every hope, and every dream I've ever had and no matter what happens to us in the future. Every day we are together is the greatest day of my life. I will always be yours and my darling, you will always be mine." ~The Notebook
Television:
I rarely watch television other than the nature, history, discovery channels or documentaries.
Books:
The majority of what I read is non fiction.
Heroes:
My gramma, the most loving person I have ever known. She gave me the most precious of gifts, total unconditional love. Through her battle of many years with Multiple Sclerosis, she was the model of tenacity and courage in my life. If I can be half the person she was in this lifetime, I will be content.
"Inscribe this single word on your heart compassion.
Whenever you are confused, keep heading in the direction that leads towards deepening your love and care for all living beings, including yourself, and you will never stray far from the path to fulfillment." ~ Sam Keen
