Praised by the Leipziger Volkszeitung for her "warm voice" and "radiant singing" as Mimi in La Bohème with the Leipzig Opera, soprano Christine Moore has performed throughout the United States and in Europe, and is noted for her lush sound and powerful expression. A Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, she has sung many roles on stage, including Cio-Cio San with the Central City Opera, Pamina with the June Opera Festival of New Jersey, Suor Angelica with the Chautauqua Institute, Alice Ford with the Aldeburgh (U.K.) Fall Festival, as well as the Countess and Donna Anna, among others. Her orchestral and recital performances are numerous and include Barber’s Knoxville- Summer of 1915 in New York City with the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, the Requiems of Mozart, Faur&233 and Brahms, Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony , and Mendelssohn’s Elijah . In 2002 she sang a recital of celtic-inspired works with pianist Beth Levin in Edinburgh, Scotland, as part of the "St Andrew’s and St George’s at Festival Time" series at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and has given numerous recitals in New York City, notably Trinity Church, Christ & St. Steven’s Church, Manhattan School of Music and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, as well as venues throughout the U.S., the UK and Germany.
A native of Sacramento, Ms. Moore has collaborated frequently with composers in new works, including Jerome Rosen’s opera Calisto and Melibea, Ciro Scotto’s Songs of a Geisha, and works by other New York City-based composers. She made her Merkin Hall debut in 2000 in world premiere of Richard Thompson’s The Shadow of Dawn with the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra under Richard Auldon Clark, and in 2003 sang the New York premiere of Mr. Thompson’s two Langston Hughes settings. She was a featured performer in 2003 and 2004 in the American Composer’s Alliance annual Festival of American Music including works by Marc Antonio Consoli, Frederick Tillis, Eric Froeberg, Jesse Sklar and Darleen Mitchell. In 2003 she was soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra, telecast on WNYE-TV, New York, and was featured in a recital of eastern European composers with noted British violinist Susanne Stanzeleit and pianist Ofra Yitzhaki.
In the summer of 2005 Ms. Moore made her debut at Scotland’s Paxton House Chamber Music Festival in Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, praised by the Glasgow Herald as "a colourful, evocative performance." In May she sang works by Steven Gerber in an all-vocal concert featuring soprano Lucy Shelton and composers David DelTredici and John Eaton. The concert was part of the recently-inaugurated Brooklyn Conservatory New Music Collective founded by composer Michael Rose. In 2003 Ms. Moore performed Op. 38 songs by Rachmaninoff with pianist and composer Sergei Dreznin as part of Yeshiva University Museum’s "Festival of Russian Art and Culture, " and 2004, she gave an exclusive interview on WNYE Radio (New York) with host James David Jacobs.
This past fall Ms. Moore released her first CD, "Christine Moore - Arias" with the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, John Landor, conductor, produced by Musical Concepts. Future projects include the role of Alice Moore in the premiere of a new opera by Richard Thompson on the life of poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, and another recording The Shadow of Dawn – a recital of 21st Century American songs with pianist Julian Jacobson
Ms. Moore is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music, and makes her home in New York City.
