About Me

Hailing from Venezuela and of Lebanese heritage, her fascination with music began at an early age. The American Prep school she attended established her foundation and appreciation for Western music: blues, rock and 70's folk music. Her passion, though, was always fueled by the intoxicating Latin rhythms of her native Venezuela and the haunting melodies of her parent's homeland, Lebanon. According to her baba (father, in Arabic) she inherited her tendency to sing lamentful folk songs ('ataba) from her grandmother. She believes that music, like acting (she trained in NY as an actress) must move an audience. A storyteller at heart, her lyrics give way to her personal history. Her Lebanese heritage undeniably seeps through her music; the yearning for the land scarred by war, the yearning for love and the presence of loss, all permeate throughout her songs.
