Héctor Palacio - TenorHéctor Palacio made his debut in Japan last November (2007) singing Pinkerton with The Fujiwara Opera opposite to Hisara Sato as Butterfly and under Maestro Yoshinori Kikuchi baton. Originally from Tabasco Mexico, Héctor Palacio is a graduate in Sociology from the National University of Mexico where he also studied music, voice and acting. He made his professional opera debut in September of 1999 with Opera de Bellas Artes singing the Slave in Strauss’ Salome. He performed since then, among other roles, Tonio and Edgardo in Donizetti’s La fille du regiment (2000) and Lucia di Lammermoor (2001) with the National Conservatory of Music Orchestra and Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi (2001) and Hoffmann in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann (2001) with the International Society for Mexican Artistic Values (SIVAM).His appearances in the U.S have included, among others, Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff (2002) and Rinuccio in Puccini..s Gianni Schicchi (2003) with American Singers’ Opera Project; Wataru in the U.S. premiere of Kesa To Morito (2002) a Japanese opera by Kan Ishii with Harmonia Opera; Rodolfo in Puccini’s La bohéme (2003) with the North Jersey Philharmonic and Javier in the Moreno Torroba’s Luisa Fernanda (2003) with Zarzuela Company of New York and then with Universidad de Veracruz Orchestra in Mexico.Mr. Palacio has also appeared with Dicapo Opera as Alfredo, Don José (outreach) and the leading tenor in Opera Senza Rancor (2005) and made his Carnegie Hall debut with Pacific Opera (2004). Mentored by international soprano Martina Arroyo, has performed Alfredo in Verdi’s La traviata (2004), Pinkerton and Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Butterfly (2004) and Tosca (2005) with The Martina Arroyo Foundation. He debuted with Metro Lyric Opera in a Summer Opera Concert and sang Don José with the Brooklyn Conservatory Summer Opera Orch. (2006).In 2008 he appeared as Alfredo with Regina Opera and then with The Staten Island Philharmonic, Pollione with Metropolitan Lyric Theater and Rodolfo with both, Eastern Opera Festival Orchestra and Brooklyn Conservatory Summer Opera Orchestra. Mr. Palacio has been awarded with the sponsorship of SIVAM (supported by Plácido Domingo, with whom he had the opportunity to sing as soloist in the Gala Latina 2002 at Bellas Artes); Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes sponsored by the Mexican Government; and from The Martina Arroyo Foundation.
