"My Religion is Simple. My Religion is Compassion." H.H. Tenzin Gyatzu, XIVth Dalai Lama

About Me

I'm a lawyer. I concentrate, almost exclusively, in chapter 11 corporate reorganizations. I've been in practice for 20 years. I left my partnership in a medium-sized midtown firm about four years ago. Now I keep a deliberately small, private practice. I teach at a well-known New York area law school. I write about issues in bankruptcy.I am an amateur Egyptophile. I am studying Buddhism. I have two wonderful cats. I'm eclectic. I love fireworks. I like to think I'm generous, though that's not for me to judge. I like to listen to people, though I can be fairly opinionated on some things (like the war in Iraq - I thought it was a bad idea to start with and all of my worst fears (predictions) about it have come to pass).

My Interests

Buddhism, Tigers, Ancient Egypt, Photography, Museums, Zoos, Law, Cosmology, Astronomy, Politics, the Environment, My cats, Art, Current Events, Books, Music & Film, Travel (my most recent trips were to Egypt, Thailand and Cambodia, next I want to see India, Nepal, Tibet, China - I'm not much for laying aroung on a beach, I can do that here in NY)

I'd like to meet:

H.H. Tenzin Gyatso, the XIV Dalai Lama; William J. Clinton; Hilary Clinton; Russ Feingold; Barack Obama; Angelina Jolie (okay, so I'm shallow, she is still a champion of human rights); Maureen Dowd, Frank Rich, Paul Krugman, Tom Friedman, Fidel Castro, Nelson Mandela, people interested in quantum physics, cosmology, string theory, and the nature of time; Siouxsie Sioux; Christianne Ananpour; Deborah Harry; Steven Colbert, Jon Stewart; Cristo; Faith Hubbel; Neil Armstrong; Einstein, Gandhi, Shakespeare, Guttenberg, Fermat, Plato, Socrates, Aristophanes, Aristotle; Akhenaten, Snefru, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin; Picasso, Cornel, Monet, Gautama Buddha, Jesus, Muhammed, Moses, chess players, Mike Tyson; Martin Luther King, Jr., Chairman Mao, Robert F. Kennedy, Charlie Chaplin, Frank Zappa, Jerry Garcia, Teddy Roosevelt, Abe Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Karl Marx, Dostoevsky . . . it's a long list and I've barely started. . . on a personal level, I'd like to meet someone eclectic. Someone interested in exploring new things, places, foods, music, ideas. Someone artistic or artistically inclined. Someone who can hold her own in conversation on wildly diverse topics. Someone who likes to read good books as well as trash, who likes good music (i.e. avoids top 40 radio). Someone to go out and hang out with (and equally comfortable) in the park, in the bars, at the NY Phil or a black tie benefit. Someone playful. Someone serious. Someone in leather. Someone in lace. Someone in bluejeans. Someone in the perfect little black cocktail dress. Someone in nothing at all. Someone who is all of the above. These good people want you to know that I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 Edit your Friend's list with Top Friends Generator of MyWackoSpace.com

Salmon? We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Salmon - Not in Alaska

To summarize: Governor Palin appointed a bunch of mining industry officials (can you say cronies) to head up Alaska's Department of Natural Resources, which regulates mines. Her environmental commissi...
