INSTRUCTIONS FOR MODERN LIVING: 3-6 September
It’s late. Video glow lights the room.
Bizarre late-night infomercials punctuate the empty dark. Welcome to New Zealand… but it could be anywhere.
This is stoner theatre for the flat-screen generation. A supremely chilled cocktail of words, music, images and ideas, all cruising for meaning through the backblocks of the night.
From the radio talk-show host whose phones won’t ring, to the married couple that have nothing left to say to each other, we meet a cavalcade of capitalism’s quiet casualties.
Two men on stage, many instruments and even more technology. One speaks, the other plays. Join them on a surreal multimedia trip where Laurie Anderson’s techniques meet Eleanor Rigby’s loneliness.
Misunderstood by critics around the world, it intrigues audiences with its edgy charm and audacity. Now it’s Sydney's turn to take instruction.
