Matthew Crane

jazz guitarist/composer

About Me

I am a jazz guitarist based in Sydney, where I have been performing professionally for eight years. At Southern Cross University I began my musical education with Jim Kelly, to whom I am deeply grateful for his dedication to teaching and infectious passion for music. Currently I am completing a degree at The Sydney Conservatorium where I have had the privelege of studying with Paul MacNamara, Matt McMahon, and Gordon Brisker among notable others.
To date I have a swag of compositions I plan to record for an album with 'my' quartet, MCsquared. Other groups I have associations with are:
The Rhino Factory Big Band - a hard swinging extravaganza on a grand scale (maybe that's the only scale extravaganzas come in, oh well)

Kaleidophone

- a quartet inspired by Miles Davis and Jerry Bergonzi, co-led by tenor saxophonist Dan Rorke

Lidofaneski

-(or Eski for short) an electronic/live instrument ensemble betwixt composed melody, beats, and free, textural, often dramatic, explorations

Emerald City

- a live Drum and Bass outfit featuring the tunes of producer Ghost Solaris
