Camille - La Fille Du Cirque

About Me

‘Like a cross between Sally Bowles, Patti Smith and P-J Harvey…destined to be a major star’ The Scotsman UK 5 star
‘Raunchy, dangerously fragile …a real star’ 'A vocal talent and stage presence like no other singer today…This girl is a one off' Edinburgh Evening News 5 star
‘A courageous and singular performer, Camille is one of the most gifted interpreters of narrative songs yet to appear’ The Irish Times
‘An exceptional voice…provocative and sensual’ Critics Choice The Sunday Times
Born in London of a French mother and Irish father Camille moved to Cork, Ireland when she was a child. Prior to running away with the circus The Famous Spiegeltent and touring the world her own show and hit show La Clique which she is an original cast member, she studied painting and was an award winning Architect. It was while living in Berlin she became intriigued by the narrative music of Eisler, Hollaender and Weill and seeing cabaret greats like Agnes Bernelle perform. Camille has recently performed sell out seasons in Edinburgh,Ireland, New York, UK, Australia including the Sydney Opera House with her award winning show and also with the ensemble off Broadway hit show La Clique/Absinthe.
‘Camille O'Sullivan's red-hot torch song performance in "Absinthe" gets crowds sighing and swaying .Daily News New York US
“An astonishing performer, a mix of childlike joy and sophisticated temptress, with a voice that in turn cajoles, smoulders and belts out.” The Age, Australia
After being spotted by Ewan Bremner (Spud from Trainspotting) in La Clique Camille co-starred as the Vaudville Star Jane in the film Mrs Henderson Presents directed by Stephan Frears, opposite Dame Judi Dench and Bob Hoskins. She and Will Young are also the soundtrack to the movie. She has appeared as guest with Damien Rice , Jack L and Shane McGowan.
As a singer, OSullivan enjoys a formidable reputation for her passionate and dramatic interpretations of the songs of Jacques Brel, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Kurt Weill, David Bowie and more. Chameleon like on stage, each song has a different character with its own story to tell.
