About Me

Buy my stuff here:
I'm a songwriter/singer/guitarist and aspiring producer. I write a book every now and then, when money is tight. Check out "The Everything Songwriting Book" (Adams Media). It's been through several printings and American Songwriter Magazine called it the most complete songwriting book ever and said "No songwriter should be without it". I don't know about all that, but it sure felt good to read the review.Myspace music doesn't have a box for this but, I'm happy to say that I'm in a relationship with a WONDERFUL woman named Kristen, whom I probably don't deserve... but I'll take all the good God wants to give me.Back to me (this, after all MY space), I am a compulsive reader. I was in the first rock band to tour China. I have played at the Ryman (WSM Fanfare show) and I was a frequent guest on 'Opry Star Spotlight' while it was on the air. I've shared the stage with Charlie Louvin, Bad Company, Brad Paisley, Foghat, Stonewall Jackson, Wanda Jackson, Humble Pie, Chad Brock, The Georgia Satellites, Black Oak Arkansas, Juice Newton, Blake Shelton, The Byrds and a bunch of other cool people.I've had songs recorded by (some of which actually got released) James Otto (Mercury), Mustang Sally (Asylum), Lisa Shaffer (Lyric Street), Jason Whitehorn (Arista) and great Indie artists like Camille, Trent Jeffcoat and Christie Warner.I played Y2K in Iwakuni Japan. I am a whore for chocolate. If you really want to know more about me and my weird career, let me know.

Band Members: CJ Watson (2008 GRASSY HILL KERVILLE NEW FOLK WINNER): vocals, guitars, bass, producer, harmonica, percussion, nose flute.I do some touring with my band, The Evertones. Other than me, the members are Jeff Gilkinson (cello, bass, banjo, harmonica, guitar) and Steve Peavey (mandolin, steel guitar, banjo, guitar).Jeff was a member of the Dillards, recorded several albums with them and wrote some of their hits, most notably "Annabelle Lee". He has also toured and or recorded with Tom T. Hall, Mason Williams, Jennifer Warnes, Michael Johnson, John Hartford and a gazillion others. He's been on Austin City Limits twice and was a mainstage performer at the 2006 Kerrville Folk Festival. He's one of my favorite writers as well... there's ALWAYS room for cello!Steve is just a kid, but he was a member of the infamous 'Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash' and he won the SW Regional 'Guitarmageddon' competition. He's also a truly great composer. Some, not all, of my Favorite co-writers: Al DeTrolio (120 co-writes and counting)... Camille Wallin... Randall Clay... Anthony Smith... Bobby Terry... Scott Sanford... Jaime Babbitt... Trent Jeffcoat... Mark Stephen Jones...Lorna Flowers... Mike Ambrose... and Manny MooreSome people I play with a lot in various bands and recording scenarios:Camille: Bass, rhythm guitar, kickass vocals, writer, cabinetmaker...Chris Wallin: Guitar, vocals, purveyor of fine, handcrafted songs full of down home soul. Voted "World's Greatest Guy to Have Lunch With"... by me...Jaime Babbitt: Guitar, percussion, Vocals? She sings in Leon Russel's band. Does THAT answer your question? If I was stranded on a desert island and could only bring one woman... Ben Massey: Anything with strings or sticks, vocals, producer and writer. Come off the road, Ben, Nashville NEEDS you!...Scott Sanford: Guitar, piano, vocals and writer... the illegitimate child of Vince Gill and George Gershwin...Bobby Terry: Will kick your butt on any instrument ever invented. Also world's greatest producer and hit songwriter. He can sing, too...Mike Ambrose: bass, guitar, vocals, writer, recording engineer/owner of "A-Train" studios...Heather Davis: Piano, guitar, bass, omigod singer, writer...There are more... maybe later...
Influences: Tony Lane, Rickie Lee Jones, Terry Goodkind, Frank Zappa, Chopin, Terry Pratchett, Led Zeppelin, Hank Williams, sr., Kevin Smith, OLD AC/DC, Patsy Cline, Anthony Smith, Jonathan Long, Chris Wallin, Bobby Terry, pre-haircut Mettalica, Jimmy Rogers, Paul Rodgers, Mr. Rogers, Roger Miller... I refuse to spend my life writing one, or any limited number of, genres.
Sounds Like: A guy in love with Kristen... I promise I'll get back to dark, gritty songs where a lot of people die drunk and alone ASAP but, for the moment, it's all puppies and rainbows.
