Scott Greenwalt is a songwriter based in Nashville. He grew up in small towns all over Kentucky and Tennessee, following his Baptist preacher father from town to town. His first experience in front of an audience was at a birthday party when he and some of his friends were the back-up band for a local Elvis imitator. In 2001 Scott, his brother Troy and friend Jonathan Oglesby started the alternative rock band The Codenames. They made three records full of crazy songs about zombies, hairy girlfriends and small-town freaks. Their songs were played on radio stations all over the country and as far away as Santiago, Chile. When The Codenames broke up in 2006, Scott decided to get serious about songwriting. He started playing writer’s nights and writing songs about everyday people and places.
That is if you think the characters in songs like "27 Dollars" are normal.
