I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Words cannot adequately express the grief we are experiencing over the death of my beloved nephew, JAKE HALE, on July 4, 2007. Jake was loved by so many, and he made friends wherever he went all over this earth. He was a beloved son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, and friend. Jake was genuinely warm, unpretentious, friendly, and outgoing. He was also fond of teasing his relations, cracking everyone up with his jokes. He was a thoughtful, caring, generous young man who loved his family and friends. He was a traditional singer and loved to share his culture with others.

Thank you all for your kindness, generosity, and especially for your prayers. In the words of my fun-loving nephew: "pilamahalo"
Just your ordinary "Heinz 57" kind of person who loves music. A facilitator, I help make things happen for musicians, artists, and small business owners.
Want to project a more professional appearance with your written pieces?
Need a little help creating buzz for your shows?
Wish you could get someone to write your press releases, type them up, proof your spelling, or even help with your bookkeeping?
Not sure what software to use for managing finances, or how to make best use of the software you already own?
Do you belong to a charitable organization that needs to raise funds?
Ever find yourself bewildered by your own organizational mess, wishing you had a secretary?

I might be the solution to your problems! I'm a versatile, and relatively inexpensive, resource for you. Regardless of whether you use my business services, I like meeting new people -- so stop by and say hi!
Cho Promotions is the more formal initiative of an experienced legal assistant, small business owner, and former music major who has met those needs informally for decades.
By the way, genealogy and history are also passions of mine. Can't say that I've uncovered any famous musicians in my genealogical past, but it's clear that music has been an important part of my family's history. So if you're hankerin' to know who your ancestors are, I can even help with that!
PS: Some folks call me a promoter - but that label reminds me of Don King. My hair is kinda wild, but not that wild. heh!

My Interests

Music, history, genealogy, languages, poetry, philosophy, my children, spirituality, my friends, learning, learning and more learning. Introduce me to somethin' new!

I'd like to meet:

My g-g-g-g-g-g-grandfather, Isaac Levi (on my paternal side). I think he was part grasshopper - every time I think I've got him pegged, he's gone! I'd also like to meet my maternal g-g-g-g-g-g-grandfather; don't know his name (yet), but I know he was in Japan!

Two of the finest singer-songwriters in Indiana:

GREG ZIESEMER and KRISS LUCKETT

This clip came from their performance at the Sindoqua Scholarship Benefit Concert featuring Grammy Award winner Bill Miller . Greg and Kriss opened that show at Radio Radio on September 28, 2006. You can read about the show in my blog by clicking here .

The song Good Seeds* is on the Spud Puppies' newest CD, Off the Leash. Buy your copy on-line at CD Baby .

Music:

Kahlil Gibran said it best: "God created music as a common language for all men. It inspires the poets, the composers and the architects. It lures us to search our souls for the meaning of the mysteries described in ancient books."

+ + + + + + +

There are very few forms of music I don't enjoy. Just when I think I'm mostly a folkie, I'll get a hankerin' for some old R&B, or want to hear some Django Reinhardt, or maybe Sippi Wallace. Other days it might be Aaron Copeland's compositions, or maybe Kyu Sakamoto. Some other favorites are below, in no particular order. (Click on the blue ones, you'll get a little more info about 'em!)

    Bill Miller
    Greg Ziesemer and Kriss Luckett
    The Spud Puppies
Ho Hwo Sju (traditional Lakota singers)
    Cherry Creek Ramblers
    Stevie Ray Vaughan
    John Trudell
    Bonnie Raitt
    Jim Kimsey
    Lyle Lovett
    Jim Boyd
    Jake Hale
    blueprintmusic
    Creaking Tree String Quartet
    Abigail Washburn
    Miss Ruth Brown
    il Troubadore
    Chris Sharp and David Long
    Joan Baez
    Marvin Gaye
    Buffy Sainte-Marie
    Cisco ,
    Woody ,
    Pete , and
    Steve
(Houston, Guthrie, Seeger, and Earle, of course)
J.B. Beverley & the Wayward Drifters
    Van Morrison
and especially little kids just beginning to play any instrument.

Movies:

Any by Akira Kurosawa but the sentimental fave is "The Seven Samurai." Same thing with Hayao Miyazaki - My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and - sadly enough - Grave of the Fireflies. Then there's Chris Eyre's and Sherman Alexie's film, Smoke Signals, Niki Caro's film Whale Rider, and the film about John Trudell - Trudell

Television:

InuYasha, Witch Hunter Robin, Forensic Files, SpongeBob SquarePants, anything on the History Channel, Dark Shadows, anything on the Discovery Channel

Books:

Latest books read: "Invisible Presence: A Walk through Indiana in Photographs and Poems" by Norbert Krapf and Darryl Jones; and "Ten Little Indians" by Sherman Alexie . Also enjoy Tom Robbins ("Jitterbug Perfume"), and Stephen Ambrose ("Band of Brothers").

Heroes:

My father

and The 442nd Regimental Combat Team including my first cousin (once removed)

My late grandparents: Masato and Hanayo, and Ira and Irene.

My friends - Phil, Vickie, Brian+Lisa, Ted+KTB, Alicia, Mike+Carol, Del+Ginger, Greg+Kriss, Tufty+Roni, Steven , and Bart.
Twelve-Steppers.
