BAND MEMBERS:

Mittens - 4 Strings n Yells

The Punk/Rock/Ska band The Pints are a trio hailing from Brisbane, Australia. The Pints formed in 2005 and have toured nation wide, they have supported bands such as; Dropkick Murphys, Sick Of It All, The Adicts, Anti Nowhere League and Slick 46. Their latest contribution to the music world has received nation wide airplay. "The White Plague" is an amazing fast and furious album containing plenty of hammering drums, infectious guitar riffs and energetic punk raw lyrics. The Pints fuse Punk/Rock/Ska music generating unique tunes with influences of NOFX, Bad Religion, Lars Fredrickson and the Bastards and The Vandals.

To Further Economy You Kill Off Your Country, kick starts the album with furious drumming, guitar riffs and chanting lyrics.

Americannottakeover has a bass riff intro, leading into a ska drumbeat, infused with punk rock, distorted guitar riffs and brilliant lyrics about how Americanized Australia has become.
"If you got what we want we'll take it the American way."

One Month Retirement a voice for the working class, with intense bass riffs, infectious guitar riffs and solid drumming! "Whats the point when your not so free, worked to the bone then to a nursing home."

Golden Shower has Oi's, humorous lyrics to chant along with and infectious guitar riffs, love this tune! "She likes mutilation he likes to get pissed on, each to their own don't do that shit around me."

Greed Hate & Power, machine gun drumming intro, short loud and fast tune with chanting lyrics.
"It’s time to turn the tide and stand up and fight"

You Can't Hug Your Children With Nuclear Arms this was the first single off the album, with loaded guitar riffs, a chant along lyrics and slammin’ drums.
"Nuclear arms embrace us all don't be fooled these hugs aren't warm,"

The White Plague is definitely an album that belongs in a handy place in your Punk Music Collection. The Pints are a band that is consistently working on new material with another album to be released maybe later this year or early next year. They are a band that we will all definitely hear from in future times as their reputation for energetic live performances and their talent of producing brilliant punk music and growing support should see them go far. Hard to believe that these guys are still officially unsigned, what is this saying about punk music in Australia!

You can find them on MySpace http://www.myspace.com/therazorbacks

A Message from the Leigh,

We got a single out in a few weeks on iTunes called ''Couldn't Wait'' Its on our profile at the mo and we have had nothing but awesome reviews about it. so its all ace ventura :D

We are also shooting a music video for it sometime in the next 2 months or so. There are a shit load of new songs in the works so in a few months we will be playing a completley different set at our gigs but keepin a few of the songs we got at the moment because we like them lots. We are going in the studio in September to record a song.

The lyrics were written by Mr. Ian Peters and the music was written by me (Leigh) and no one else, i did it all alone...! Nah we came up with some mint music for it and its sounding really good so yeah.

Check it when its done. We are also aiming to get in the studio before this year is over and do 2 or 3 new songs with Mr. Andy Taylor who we love and makes us sound ace. And we are planning on touring next year so come see us then :) Thanks to everyone who is showing up to our gigs, buying our CDs, listening to us on MySpace etc. we love you all loads.

On their MySpace they have 5 songs uploaded to play, which are:

Couldnt Wait
I liked you better when - this is the B - side.. (Of their Brand New Song)
Waste of time
When you were you
& A Live version of Pretend

I was sent the 2 New songs

Couldnt wait & I liked you better, which i have proudly reviewed, and Theyre Awesome!

Couldnt Wait is simply Awesome,

Beautiful soft lyrics and soft voice, mellow, with an acoustic rhythm and mellow drum and bass Line which then explodes in to some amazing jamming of acousticism.. Fading out to a twinkle dying end. Beautiful!

I liked you Better is a True Rock Song,

Really Catchy, great Bass line jamming and strong vocals, great jamming sessions and pumping bass with the drums, full of strong vocals and lyrics blending well together to pump out an action rock song! The blend of guitar rifts bass lines and gentle percussion makes their music simply Romantic with that Extra Special Rock n Roll Touch!

In their Blog Leigh has posted a blog of a song: A GIFT FROM LEIGH TO YOU AUGUST 08 Heres a song I wrote. Inspired by someone who tried to take their own life.

My review on it is:

This is simply Pure and Raw. It has a lot of emotion in the lyrics, and u can feel the sadness and emotions in this beautifully acoustic ballad, so go take a listen! Its very raw.

The Razor Bax are a proper Rock n Roll Band. The Lead Singer Leigh has the most Beautiful voice, Blending well with Beautiful Lyrics, when your listening to their music it gets inside! Its simply Amazin!

They can play some soft gentle rock and some amazing harder rock which still has that soft touch, to make u melt! This Band have a lot of potential and really do need to be snapped up and signed, I wish them all the best coz they Rock.

The Start of drum cymbals bashing with the drums and a heavy bass line hits you intwined with solid Elec guitar which bursts into the vocals. 3, The Mess.

Deep Bass twang, light electric acoustics, and then into a cool jamming session hits the start of this tune, which slowly fades to electric guitar drums and vocals again a "quick fast" tune like the pop punk bands out there today, near the end of this tune is an amazing mellow jam with really powerful vocals and bash out, Jammin Groovy and very cool!

The Currency - 888
Single Review by Sharla Cartner

TRACK LISTING:
888
Jim Jones

BAND MEMBERS:

Justin Moore - vocals
Greg Stainsby - guitar,
mandolin
Marko Jennings -
mandolin, guitar
Alice Green - bass
Michelle Lewit - violin
Travis Demsey - drums

The Currency are a six piece Folk Punk Rock Orchestra from Melbourne Australia. The Currency infuse punk rock music with Celtic folk music. They boast a talented line up including Travis Demsey, the ex Living End drummer. The Currency descends proudly from a lineage of convicts, bushrangers, stowaways and scoundrels, they are reviving the colonial folk ballad tradition. Influences of Midnight Oil and Weddings, Parties, Anything are heard in their style, ahh maybe oz rock isn't dead after all.

The Single 888 is a folk rockin track, sweet melodic sound, with an infusion of oz rock and punk. 888 has references to Melbourne street icons and history including Ned Kelly. 888 for those who don't know means 8 hours of labour, 8 hours of recreation and 8 hours of rest. This song poses an interesting question "What would the ghosts of a great grandparents say?" Yes what would they say? Has the battle of an 8 hour day with a decent wage been won and now lost? Is it just history? I would like to think not but somehow reality is written otherwise in my diary! "Sitting on the steps of the 8 hour monument drinking my day away."

The B side track on the single, Jims Jones is a tale of a convict, this song is an old convict folk song believed to be first sung back in the 1820's when Jack Donahue’s gang was still roaming freely. Jim Jones was a poacher with a daring spirit and while being inhumanely transported to Australia he becomes bitter and dreams of joining Jack Donahue’s Bushranger Gang. This song has been recorded by a few different artists over the years, although The Currency's version of this song would have to be the best version yet for me. As I feel it captures the daring and defying spirit of Jim Jones . The Currency have recorded their version of song with the feel of Celtic folk music and have infused rock into it. "I'll shoot the bastards one and all, I'll shoot the floggers down."

I feel in my blood which descends from my Irish convict ancestors, that this is only a very tiny taste of what is to come from The Currency in the future.

Check out The Currency for yourself!

THE SCUMBAG INTERVIEW
by LISA BOOTH

THE SCUMBAGS

THE SCUMBAGS are A Rock/ Dance/ Surfing Band from Mayland, Italy.

The four members are:
LALE (vocals, guitar)
STE (drums)
JIM (guitar)
DAVIDE (bass)

We were all members of other various bands, in 2006; we decided to enjoy this project together. In the first two years we had played more than 100 shows around Italy and Europe, cause we think that live shows is the best part in a band life. . .In 2007 we had recordered our first album, a pop punk bullet of eleven songs called LOAD, AIM...FIRE!Released by the Californian Label Slip Trick records, including the schizo-romantic song “One Day Romance.”Our songs are talking about what? about life, about what you like, about love, dirty love, the courage to be one's true self, without being overly serious , angry and joy, and...Energy...we wanna give you the energy to live (and more than this)! actually we're writing new energy songs with for the upcoming year.!I had the honor of having The Scumbags answer some q’s for me...and here’s what they say..!

I SEE YOUR SONG WRITING FOR NEW MATERIAL.DO U COLLABORATE TOGETHER, OR IS IT JUST ONE OF YOU WHO WRITES,OR DO YOU HAVE SOME ONE TO WRITE FOR YOU?

Well usually Lale or Jim write songs and lyrics at home and then we collaborate together For the construction of them. Then we listen to songs with producer and staff. We’re actually Write lots of songs with different style, then we’ll decide which songs we’ll use for our Second CD or EP , that we hope to release in June or September 2009. I think we’ll use about 12/14 songs. We’ll back in studio in the second half of September, we hope to find soon The new label to collaborate for our second opera (:

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO WRITE?

It depends, for the lyrics of our first album “load, aim fire” we wrote about insecurity and Dreams of rebellion, using lots of words. For our second works we’re looking for an Abstract but direct words, face to face. We don’t like to turn around things, so our new Songs will be direct. We’re actually writing new lyrics, about the energy to live, about memories and the Importance of the moment. But we don’t know how we call the second album yet.

WHY THE SCUMBAGS FOR A NAME IS IT INFLUENCED BY THE GREEN DAY SONG?

Yes for sure! (: we love green day. It was the name of band where Lale and Dave are met too, some years ago. And then they decided to keep this name, as friendship symbol. We indicate the scumbag as the devil on your shoulder, who tells you what you really want to do.

NAME SOME MAJOR INFLUENCES AND WHY?

Our major influence is...taste. We play what we like, not what is better to play now. We Play fresh music from the slums of luxury. We play from 2006, not so much, but found a Style, our style, and we’d like to become a good band keeping and improving that way. Other influences part music is to see and to live the life, or strange situation you can find Around you.

WHAT ARE YOU GUYS LIKE LIVE?

Well we’re party guys, when we’re not in studio or in session we love to be around with Friends. When we’re on tour we love to know new people before, during and after show. We like to Make some funny things sometime. Lale is the quietest of the band and sometimes he Drive naked.

WHEN DO WE EXPECT TO SEE A NEW ALBUM?

We’re actually looking for a new manager so we actually don’t know rules and time of new Album. We’re deciding graphics and title and new pic right now. We hope to back in studio in October and get ready in February, so release that in summer 2009. we’re taking a lil break from stage now, cause we wanna prepare everything as better as possible. So we need your help guys ^^

DO YOU HAVE ANY BIZARRE STORIES OF FANS?

During Baltic games festival in Poland we made an interview for a Poland TV channel where we introduce a guy as “the noisemaker”, he was a guy who still jump on stage and make a funny show during The Scumbag performance in Gdansk, jumping on stage, and on people, dancing and kissing girls on stage while we were playing. Now he’s a really good friend of us and part of staff when we’re on tour (:

HAVE YOU PLAYED OUTSIDE OF ITALY?

Yes we played an European tour in 2007 (Slovenia, Czech rep. Poland, German, Switzerland), and we’re just come back from a big concert in Gdansk, Poland.People in Poland was great, the stage was gorgeous and people still shout and dance for the entire performance. We should back on tour in Europe in end of spring 2009, and in California in December 2008 or summer 2009 (we hope both) (: Our next project is play at warped tour 2009 in the USA, we really hope to realize that.

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DID YOU GROW UP WITH IN ITALY ANDHOW DID YOU GET INTO THIS STYLE OF MUSIC YOU PLAY TODAY?

We always listened (and still) lots of Californian band, of all genres, from punk rock, to pop rock, as Gguttermouth, Bad Religion, Green Day, Rancid, Rise Against, new band like My Chemical Romance. Or acoustic music, with just guitar and piano you know?Or in the soundtrack movies, you can find a lot of good stuff in it sometime (sweet, hard, sexy). And ;ots of rock’n’roll, that’s the best! There’s a good in everything, we like to take the best of everything and creating good sounds i think.

SHARE WITH US SOME COOL BAND MEMORIES

Ooook (:During a show in Europe we and stuff drink more than club should pay us, as Blues Brothers movie. The first time that we made a sold out show we didn’t sleep from more than 30 hours, we was in Poland and club was totally full, we had people on stage too. Lale and Ste are brothers. The day after a concert of us in a festival, we were around the party and we still met people who’d like to make pics with us, and we almost lost the plane to back in Italy. "Load aim fire" title album was chosen while we was drunk and driving from studio to the hotel. David bought his first bass with the money found in a wallet lost on street. At the beginning we were a trio, Jim enjoyed the band in the end of 2007. Our backstage and changing room (when we have one) is always full of people that we know before the concert, and we invite them to have fun together! Thanks for your support, find us at www.myspace.com/scumb4g

Sam Cunningham

Zwish is an extremely talented grunge punk rock band from Canberra Australia. Grip on Reality is a sensational album (2007) that kickass from beginning to end. Zwish is complied with harmonious vocals, sweet melodic music, and dirty rock grunge. Zwish infuse their own uniqueness into their music with influences from Hole, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, and Nirvana.

Toy Boy one of my favorite tunes rocks out with loaded distorted guitar and deep sexy vocals rippin out the lyrics and kickass drumming. Inspired by the stupidity of gangster rap yet delivered in dirty grunge rock fashion, also check out the very clever Lego video clip for this song! "Pretty face, you know your place."

Sorry Is The Hardest Word is a song that gives mainstream society and their disapproving looks the bird. This is dished out rawly with plenty of attitude in punk grunge rock style. “I’m so sorry I’m not some mind-fuck clone.”

Radical Individualist is loaded with distortion, it grinds out slowly at the start then takes off. With that brilliant deep voice twistin out the lyrics about mainstream society trying to dictate how a woman should be with her own sexuality and the mass media using sex to sell anything under the sun. “ “Androgynous struggle right through to the core”

Don't Let Them Cut Your Roses Down a sweet melodic track addressing the issue of living with someone who is close to you that suffers from depression. An introspective song, where the music produces the deepness and seriousness of the situation. “I know that you’ve followed songs that have lead you nowhere.”

Slave a song for all who think that you exist only for them and their will. A punk rock song with a heap of energy and a surfie grunge breakdown at the end. “ “You shove, you thrust, you grab, just a little more.”

B.A.B.Y a swingin punk rock song, about well I was told cleaning products coming alive and seducing them with promises of pleasure!!! Obviously we have all consumed things we shouldn’t have but it is shame we all don’t produce tunes like this when we do! Brilliant song! “I’ll get your teeth white, Help you sleep at night.”

Superstar depicting consumer society, about how brand labels making people who they are. A song that twists out seductively and jam packed with plenty of distorted guitar. “Cause my accessories, They complete me.”

I'm Your Drug And You're My Curse being addicted to a person who doesn't return the same feelings about you. Rocking track, with intensity and some sweet ambient music infused amongst the chaos before climaxing towards the end where all hell breaks loose. “You’re my dream, I am your nightmare.”

I Don't Really Care Well we have all had them! Flings that end awry. This is a driving punk rock song! “I hate you and stupid laugh and your head so full of air.”

She'll Be A Star About a girl who lived her life permantantly competing in a popularity contest. A 60's hippy love free rock feeling song. “She’s fake of hair, She’s fake of heart.” You Reduce Me To A Whisper Of What I Am a sweet punk pop song about those awkward and stupid moments at a start of a new relationship with someone who you are still trying to impress and losing yourself in the process. “I got the blindness, I got the bliss in me.”

I Am An Emotional Devil a big orchestrated song with a bit of everything twisted in it producing an 80's feel. “I’ll take, I’ll break, abuse, confuse,”

There is a Bonus Song it is piano tune with haunting vocals and that is all I will say about! You will just have to get your own copy to hear it.

Zwish is a brilliant band, and are much underrated! Leah Wheelhouse's vocals are something else and it's time that world caught on. Go and check Zwish out to get a sweet taste of punk dirty grunge rock in ya mouth!

The Rileys

The Rileys is composed ofJoseph Fielder (vox) and Dave Giles (guitar).A duo Now from West London. Originating from Essex, UK indie rock style with influences of U2, Duran Duran, The Killers. They formed in the summer of 2007, first met at school over ten years ago, been writing music together for over eight years in a number of bands, They enjoy playing live and pride themselves on their live shows, having a trail of fans in the following, “We want to get in peoples' faces and interact with everyone who comes to see us play, because if people feel connected to the show, then they will enjoy it hell of a lot more.”

RILEYS AT PHOENIX FM STATION

Their debut self titled EP received critical acclaim with fans favorite ‘Jimmy is a Lunatic’ winning the XFM uploaded single of the week at the start of April. And they have supported bands like Sketch Beat and Soprano. The band followed up this success with the release of their debut single ‘Baby Blue’ which as well as receiving some great reviews, has received airplay on the BBC Radio Network, as well as local radio stations up and down the country recording with Cheeky Chimp Records.

With resembles of a lot of bands like Duran Duran with an indie kick to the The Wombats, evenly blended with a touch of The Killers and other bands and similar indie sound, with their own special style and touch, indie rock guitar riffs and great strong vocal and chords. You can find their EP on most download sites, and you can find them on their MySpace at .. www.myspace.com/therileysmusic

1. I know what you came for. You feel the blood sweat dripping wet on the dance floor, I’m here to rock your soul, funky indie sound, great drum beat, with mellow guitar riffs blending well, great solid mellow vocals and meshing together well for a pleasant mellow tune u can tap ya foot too... chilled, relaxing and mellow kinda love song with that indie touch.!

2. Tragic Great start of guitar riffs and solos. A blend with the mix of drums and vocals blast into a great tune,, a song you wanna sign along too “”woah woah woah””... ohh..! I didn’t quite get the lyrics on this one but it doesn’t stop it being a great catchy song !

3. Jimmy is a lunatic I think he’s sick... jimmy is a lunatic.. a live favorite, loved by the fans. About a guy called jimmy who smokes to much shit! Strong instrumentals in between the lyrics, again making it very catchy and definitely a good sing along song!

4. Turning point Strong guitar riffs strong attention grabbing vocals, good drum beat blending with the guitar riffs all the way through this song, ending in a great solo. And mellow end

5. Skin and bones Twinkly, mellow, deep gentle bass to start blended gentle vocals, bursting into a blast of vocals and beat, catchy and melodramatic, good strong lyrics. With meaning, “your in my skin and bones... you fulfill me, you control me, you amuse you confuse me...

6. Smoking in bed I really liked this one, Mellow. Romantic. Great beat, and catchy, gentle guitar solos, gentle vocals and lyrics, an upbeat love song you will love, does he know that you lie...? Just don’t wanna be alone tonight,.

7. Gone This sure doesn’t sound like there’s only 2 musicians who produced it, it sounds like a blend of different instruments, guitar riffs, drums, and good vocals, my heart will burst through my chest unless i can her your voice...

New release: Baby Blue

You can find this as the first song on their MySpace page - www.myspace.com/therileysmusic
It’s strong lyrics, strong guitar riffs, make it a very catchy rock indie upbeat with mellow out bursts,I found the whole album mellow, with a great blend of strong music, The new release i felt is a little more stronger than the EP songs, due to more experience and learning along the way i guess, A great band with a lot of potential ahead of them.

Every one has to get a point across i cant agree of a better way myself to express it, And it has to be heard, My Personal Favorite of the Songs i heard was THIS SOCIETY UK Vacant does not buy into any of that Nazi Shit, "Anyone coming to us looking for a blame on race, has entirely missed the point." We wont change the World..no doubt we'll be brought down by ""The system"" If we get Loud, But we'll have a good fucking go at it and we wont make it easy for them either" !! ~UK Vacant
They all contribute with the song writing, Staying as a 3 peice band with the history of Sista Fista behind them. A brotherly bond had formed as no one else would fit in! Making more noise with the 3 of them as they did Once when 5, During the first rehearsal, they came up with 2 songs, Then that message to themselves was clear.. "Playtime was over" Within 2 weeks, They had written 5 songs by the 3rd week, They went to the studio, recorded 3 songs, "Recording a song as soon as you write and learn it, Really catches the moment of how it should sound, Raw, Rough and nothing but Heart" ~Wank Sinatra. After the 3 tracks were recorded, They joined the Myspace World, which is where we found them, in June 08 at www.myspace.com/ukvacant
They were soon to realise how the whole music scene had totally changed, "Every one downloads songs these days so there is no need for record companys and no need to censor all your songs" ! So knowing that what ever they were to record was going to end up being downloaded/file shared for fuck all, They started up their own company "Flange Records". So they have the full control of what they can do, and i dont blame them!!
The demo contains 7 songs.
1, This Society.
This was the first song recorded by UK-VACANT, Its about how they see all the shit going on in the world and Todays society, Creating Pure Aggression and Anger into a punk tune was a good move, as it produced some excellent sounds and noise! “Out on the lash its a Saturday night, your looking around, you think your alright, But your going home in a box tonight, coz the lads in the pub, are up for a fight”. Very deep and dark what an excellent first eva song.! Wow...
2, Watching Me.?
Ranting to the world about the eyes everywhere, its all fucked up, freedoms gone .. oi oi ! Exploding agression banging out the vibe, Pure Anarchy!
3, Never Change...
Oi oi oi ! Plenty of oi oi here,! This is about sticking up the 2 fingers UP at everyone who misunderstood, and who misjudged.. double chorded offessive Pure Punk in one hit,
