Sounds Like: "These boys should have capdown quaking in their boots. Its quite an accomplishment to sound this aggresive and melodic. Their mix of old skool ska breakdowns and hardcore is amazing, so it does leave you wanting more. Amazing work again, hopefully 2007 will be their year!"
- 4/5 Big Cheese Magazine
"While there's something inherently cheese flavoured about a lot of ska punk, the likes of Capdown and Austrians antimaniax have proved beyond reasonable doubt that the skank doesn't have to come served with a side of puerile parp. Brightonians Once Over might have big shiny horns (oo-er missus, etc) but, rather than have them dominate proceedings, they insinuate them silkily into their full on punk-metal melee and, crucially, a selection of well-written, hook-laden songs that are so utterly devoid of cheese you could feed them to a lactose intolerant toddler. A debut full-length, frankly, can't come soon enough."
- 4/5 Kerrang!
"They have the ability and youthful enthusiasm to take things to the next level, promising"
- 7/10 Metal Hammer
"This is a record that takes the best bits of NoComply, Phinius Gage and Capdown and puts them into one big melting pot. And when the record's title track and the brassy beginnings of 'Unbeing Dead' rattle from your speakers, you know you're onto a winner. The latter, with an awesome guitar solo right at the start, is a pedal-to-the-metal punk rock anthem in waiting, one of those tracks begged to be played by Mike Davies on The Lock Up and sung back by a bigger audience. It has the urgency so many bands nowadays miss out on...
...Once Over have the balls to take a massively uncool genre, give it a swift kick in the balls and make it fast, furious and fucking good. If you're looking for a UK band to fill the void, look no further than Once Over."
- 4/5 Punktastic
"It's one of my fave live bands sounding rather brilliant... shouty rifferama trading against squalling brass against dub psychedelia hurtles along whilst being chased by the drummer in an efficiently threatening fashion. I just can't think of anything negative to say about this"
- Punknews
"With so many fantastic ska bands giving up the ghost of recent, you better pray these boys stick around. Fantastic music, with a passion and anger to back it up"
- 4/5 Big Cheese Magazine
"Fans of hard hitting skacore bands such as Capdown, Leftover Crack and Antimaniax would be well advised to seek out a young 7 piece crew from Brighton called Once Over. Their debut album title "In An Ideal World", on Killer Ska Records kicks up a storm of passionate, high-energy tunes backed up by a strong brass section and strongly anti-establisment vocals."
- Do The Dog
"Everything sounds crisp and punchy, and they go from full on melodic and hard-hitting punk to dubbed out ska sections with ease. It's really nice to hear a full-on horn section used so well, if you're at all a fan of 'death-ska' bands such as the Antimaniax or Choking Victim and their associates you can't go wrong with this."
- Last Hours
"The UK 'ska' scene was really vibrant about 18 months ago but with bands splitting up or releasing albums that weren't as well received as they should have been, things went a little stale. If Once Over have anything to do with it, that's gonna change real soon. 'In An Ideal World' is like a rocket up the arse of all the bands out there who lack soul and passion....
Once Over could quite easily step into the void created by some of the UK bands that have recently split, and this comes well recommended."
- Punktastic.com
"I am now firmly in the belief that they are now one of the most exciting bands in the country at the moment... I hope Once Over are a band to watch of the coming year because judging by this, they've got some fantastic things to offer."
- Punknews.co.uk
"What with the demise of King Prawn and Capdown keeping us forever in wait of a worthy follow-up to Pound For The Sound, Once Over seem like a band bound to be burning on the lips of fans of the genre in the near future. It wouldnt surprise me to see them inking a deal with Householdname Records either as they seem to be cut out of the right material. In An Ideal World comes with a ton of energy, blowing most of the (quite catchy and mindsticking) things Ive heard in recent times straight out of my cerebrum. Great mix of dub, ska and speedy melodicore."
