About Me

Georgina Banfield is from London. Educated in catholic primary and secondary schools, she went onto study performing arts and English Literature and attended University to study for a Bachelor of Education.
Georgina did her first reading as part of a Love Poetry Hate Racism event. She was so broken by the experience that she has sought perfection ever since by reguarly attending open mic readings.
She writes a mixture of 'traditional' verse for print and 'freeverse' style suited for performing and is currently putting together a themed collection of poems based around life, love and circumstance. She has performed her poetry over a two night period, alongside visual artists, dancers and musicians in a ‘theatrical’ space in London's East End and has been a featured poet in Ireland (Dublin) this summer which she loved.
Two of her poems have been recorded as part of a collection with a musician/composer. Further collaborations are imminent. She is a regular reader within the London Poetry Circuit....and has no time for 'elitist' poets within the current established poetry scene who cannot accept any form of expression, apart from their own.
You can connect with her at: www.myspace.com/georginabanfield where many of her poems are posted on a regular basis or see her read at any of the poetry/music events listed. Please contact her about performance/reading events you may wish her to feature or read at.Please contact her if you would like to form poetic/music collaborations with her.

Influences: Introspection. Life at large. Anyone brave enough to challenge common preconceptions and experiment. Those that take a risk and think outside a box. Those that remember people in the past have fought long and hard for equality. Those that remember that we are not homogenous. Those that see difference as celebration! Those that see difference within groups as also a celebration. Those that question, question, question! Those who reflect long enough and hard enough to accept and support diversity and change.
Sounds Like: A sprinkling of pixie dust on the concious and subconcious mind....

a mind that's a bit flowery by default.
An urban flower gritty, from the pulse of London city

jaded, broke but free!

Gun&(on our streets)

I wrote this because a friend told me there was another young teenage victim of a gun crime not far from the borough where I live. I don't know the details. It's not been on the news. I am sickened, f...

Naked Silence

There is honesty in how we tease. It's awkward, filled with glances, seducing silence. Life reminds us we're here and little else. Walking fast, hands in pockets, clutching nothing, we talk...

Paper Moon Cuts& (A tale from the city)

Shot. AgainA chorus guns the chambers of my heart.Inside a heady head sight. A desire possibility of you, that for once, just once, I could let myself be taken. The river flows differently here.I could ...
