La France, officiellement la République française, est un pays possédant une Métropole et des DOM-TOM. La France est l'État de l'Union européenne dont le territoire européen est le plus étendu. Ce territoire, situé en Europe occidentale, est bordé par l'océan Atlantique à l'ouest, par la Manche (qui la sépare du Royaume-Uni) et la mer du Nord au nord, par la Belgique, le Luxembourg, l'Allemagne, la Suisse et l'Italie à l'est, et par la mer Méditerranée, l'Andorre, Monaco et l'Espagne au sud. Par les DOM-TOM, la France est aussi bordée par les Pays-Bas, le Brésil, le Suriname, l'Australie, mais aussi par l'océan Pacifique, l'océan Indien, la mer des Caraïbes, etc…
La France est, parmi tous les grands États européens, le plus anciennement constitué, autour d’un domaine royal initialement centré sur l’Île-de-France, sa capitale étant Paris. Membre du Conseil de l’Europe, c’est l’un des pays fondateurs de l’Union européenne, de la zone euro et de l’espace Schengen. Elle est l’un des cinq membres permanents du Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies et fait partie de l’Union latine, de l’Organisation de coopération et de développement économiques (OCDE), de la Francophonie et du Groupe des huit (G8).
Les valeurs qu’elle défend et auxquelles elle est très attachée se fondent sur la démocratie et les droits de l’homme et du citoyen de 1789, dont elle est la patrie d'origine.
France, officially the French Republic, is a country possessing a metropolis and French Overseas Departments and Territories (DOM-TOM). France is the State of the European Union the European territory of which is the vastest. France is, among all the big European States, most formerly established, around a royal domain initially centred on the “Ile-de-France”, its capital being Paris. Member of council of Europe, it is one of the countries founders of the European Union, the €uro-zone and the Schengen area. It is one of five permanent members of the Security Council of United Nations and is a part of the Latin Union, the Organization of cooperation and the economic developments (OECD), the French-speaking world and the G8.
