MOHSSEN KASIROSSAFAR
Nasce a Mashad (Iran) nel 1955. Inizia a studiare lo Zarb nel 1980. dal 1983 in poi incontra i Maestri K. Kalhor, M. R. Lotfi, H. Alizadeh, B. Kamkar e M. Aayan con i quali comincia a perfezionare la tecnica, per completare poi la sua formazione con il grande musicista Nasser Farhângfar.
Dal 1976 vive a Roma dove collabora tra gli altri con musicisti e compositori come Ennio Morricone, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Giorgio Battistelli, Angelo Branduardi, Mauro Pagani, Paolo Vivaldi,Giuliano Taviani, Andrea Morricone,Rita Marcotulli, Daniele Sepe, Mariano de simone Andrea Parodi, il duo Antonello Salis e Alessandro Satta, Peyman Yazdanian,Luis Siciliano e molti altri. Ha al suo attivo numerosissime incisioni discografiche e ha partecipato a svariati festival musicali Italiani ed europei e programmi radiotelevisivi. E’ parte integrante di gruppi come Giancarlo Schiaffini Quintet, Mish Mash Quartet, Trio Alesini, Compaina Felix, Sarawan Tamburi d"Iran e con una collaborazione che si svolge tra la musica persiana d’arte e popolare, musica medievale e rinascimentale e quella contemporanea e sperimentale, teatro e colonne sonore.
Da molti anni oltre alla carriera liutaio e musicista si dedica all’insegnamento dello zarb e del daff.

He is born in Mashad (Iran) in 1955. He starts studing the zarb in 1980. From 1983 on, he meets the masters K. Kalhor, M.R. Lotfi, H. Alizadeh, B. Kamkar and M. Aayan with whom he starts improving his technique, completing his studies with the great musician Nasser Farhangfar.
Since 1976 he has been living in Rome, where he has taken a degree in cinema. He collaborates with musicians and composers like Ennio morricone, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Giorgio Battistelli, Angelo Branduardi, Mauro Pagani, Paolo Vivaldi, Andrea Morricone, Rita Marcotulli, Daniele Sepe, the duo Antonello Salis and Alessandro Satta, Peyman YazdanianLuis Siciliano and many others.
He has published a very wide range of recordings, he has been partecipating to numerous italian and international music festivals, as well as to many radio and television programms. He is an active member of groups like the Giancarlo Schiaffini Quintet, the Mish Mash Quartet, the Trio Alesini, Compagnia Felix, Saravan Tamburi d'Iran, His musical activity ranges from classical to popular persian music, from medieval and renessance to contemporary and experimental music, including theater and soud tracks. Since many years, besides his career as a musician, he is dedicated to lute-making and teaching the zarb and the daff.
