We are so much more than the words we write, yet the words we write draw from everything we are.

About Me

I have just completed THE SWORD SWALLOWER'S DAUGHTER, a semi-autobiographical novel about loving people despite their failures, faults, and fetishes. You may read chapter one of THE SWORDSWALLOWER'S DAUGHTER by clicking here .When not writing novels, I exercise in the craft with short stories. Two of my stories have won first place in the Backspace short story contests, while a number of other stories have placed in the top three positions. Winning is fun, but the challenge of writing to specific parameters is a blast. You can read more about me and my writing at my author's website: Carolyn Burns Bass
Or, read other publishing info here .Everyone said I would be an artist when I grew up, but I wanted to be an acrobat. Not because I was good at tumbling, cartwheels, and head stands, but because I could spin. I was the best spinner on my block. I could spin and spin and spin and keep spinning when all of the other girls would falter and sicken from dizziness. I also liked how the word acrobat rolled around in my mouth before tumbling off my tongue. I never became an acrobat or an artist, but I sure do love drawing conclusions and spinning stories.
I heart art. I write. I read. I listen. I watch. I live. I'll tell you a story if you stick around.
We are so much more than the words we write, yet the words we write draw from everything we are.--Carolyn Burns Bass
