ORGAN ZINE / ORG RECORDS / ORGAN RADIO / ORGAN TV - KISSING BIG UGLY SHARKS SINCE 1986

About Me

A WEBSITE - ORGANART.COM, A MAGAZINE called ORGAN, A WEEKLY TV SHOW called ORGAN TV on SKY (off air for the summer, watch this space), A WEEKLY RADIO SHOW on London's finest radio station RESONANCE 104.4FM, A RECORD LABEL called ORG...ORGAN - ORG-AN-ISED ORG-AN-ARCHY KISSING BIG UGLY SHARKS AND STICKING TO OUR GUNS WHILE SHOOTING OUR BIG MOUTHS OFF ABOUT EXCITING MUSIC AND THINGS THAT NEED TO BE SHOUTED ABOUT...the things that revolve around music, the creativity, the communityORGAN 'ZINE started life as a very messy handmade photocopied fractured DIY thing back in November 1986Is Organ a male or female? I don't know, we have to tick one or the other over there on the profile introduction. These days Organ is a little bit more plush and glossy and we have a record label called ORG and a weekly radio show on Resonance 104.4fm here in London (Sunday night 9.00pm, hear it worldwide via www.resonancefm.com...)...and a twice weekly TV show on Open Access (via Sky every Wednesday and Sky 883 on Sunday nights - taking a break for the summer, watch this space) but hey, we're still messy and DIY and rather defiant it all comes rather naturally, we're still here, WE'RE STILL SHOUTING, I don't think we've sold out yet...CHECK OUT THE ORGAN TV TITLES...param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5GxgFel31Rg" ..TO THE BONES - new single on ORG this July 2007ORGAN is currently weekly at organart.com, a new issue goes on line weekly on Thursday afternoons. There's also a daily alternative music news on the site. ORGAN is also a FREE A5 fold giant flyer 'zine with a monthly print run of 20,000... We also run ORG Records, as an offshoot to ORGAN magazine, and www.organart.com... and we run ORGAN TV - 9.30PM, EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT ALL OVER THE UK - SKY CHANNEL 160 and repeated on Sunday nights at 9.30pm on SKY 883 via the OPEN ACCESS CHANNELS -see DIY TV as well... IMAGINE a kind of MTV thing in our grubby hands - IT'S HAPPENING... right nowand we have a weekly ORGAN RADIO SHOW on London's best radio station RESONANCE 104.4 FM - Sunday nights, 9.00pm. Rest of the world can hear it via www.resonancefm.com - check out our blogs for playlists and details.
We've been doing this Organ thing longer than most and we'll probably be here doing it long after most others have given up - its a part of us now, a monster that we have to feed, we like our monster. Organ is for people who need to find the alternatives, underground music - it's always better down here in the dirt if you're prepared to make the effort and get involved rather than just being another consummer of marketed product... Think for yourselves and get involved, life becomes far more interesting and so does the music that forms the soundtrack that goes with your life whe nyou actually get involved
ORGAN is about throwing up signposts and pointing you towards all the good exciting music being made by good people all over the world, point you towards all the wholesome earfood and creatvity and the alternatives that are out there waiting for you
We like to avoid pigeon holes, our musical tastes are all over the place - that's what real punk rock should be - for far too many now just see everything as an MTV fashion parade - time to take it back! Music and it's associated culture should not be under the thumb of the corporations, there is a different way... first you need to communicate. TAKE IT BACK FROM THOSE WHO THINK IT'S A BUSINESS OPTION! To us Punk rock is a way of thinking, not a sound, a fashion or a free sticker.Oh and we put gigs on when we feel like it - I'm guessing there's been over 500 Organ shows in London now, probably nearer to a thousand, most of your favourite bands have played on Organ bills when they were small and had no friends/fans - one day we'll write the book and tell of all the filth and chaos and the fights and...
ORG RECORDS, ORGANART.COM, ORGAN RADIO, ORGAN TV and ORGAN MAGAZINE is run in a different way, our own way, with our own set of rules...
We want to hear from all you bands, labels, zine and real people who are actually doing it for the right reasons... but NOT from those who just want to take without giving anything back, we're more interested in those who contribute to things rather than just thinking the whole world revolves around their band. We are not here to help your career and we are NOT a marketing tool for your sold out soulless product pushingORGAN MAGAZINE now COMES OUT ONCE A MONTH in paper form and once a week ON LINE at http://www.organart.com
ONE THING....
Please DON'T spam the comments bit with great big obnoxious adverts for your bands - little ones from people wh odo a little more than just spam at us we don't mind, those great big ones really piss us off - especially you soulsucking corporate music industry types - you spammers and people who fill up our MySpace mail box with crap and the same "check out our new tracks dude we love your taste in music" messages that you already sent to everyone else when you clearly haven't checked out anyone's taste in music, you people are strangling the great tool of alternative communication that My Space once was... We add most bands who request to be added, we assume you requested because you're interested in what we do - however if all you want to do is spam about your band and leave us tedious dumb and rather clueless messages "thanks for the support" comments when we haven't given you any support other than adding you, people then we'll block you.GETTING US TO LISTEN TO YOUR STUFF...WANT TO SEND SOMETHING IN FOR US TO REVIEW IN ORGAN or on the ORGAN websites OR LISTEN TO IN TERMS OF ORG RECORDS, or to get radio play or a video for the TV show?
The address is 19 Herbert Gardens, London, NW10 3BX, UK
- Please don't come knocking on the door though, nothing worse than a not very good band turning up with a demo in hand - Send it in and give us space and time, you'll know if we like it, we told you, we like to shout about good things. PLEASE DO READ THE REVIEW POLICY FIRSTORGAN REVIEW POLICYThe facts are simple - we listen to everything that turns up. We only have the time and space and inclination to tell people about the things we're positive about though - the things that excite us, the things we want to share and really want you to make the effort to check out, the things we want to shout our opinionated big mouths off about. We can't be here wasting time and cluttering up space writing about the crap, the uninspired, the watered down conformists and the many dreadfully dull things that we encounter. We're here for the really exciting life-changing music, the challenging rewarding bands who are doing it for the right reasons. Music is better than ever if you make an effort to go out and find it. You have to make the effort though...WANT TO SEND SOMETHING TO US? Well that's totally up to you, you're more than welcome to, but hey, we never ask anyone to send anything in, if you want to then that is YOUR choice. We don't promise anything to anyone other than the promise to listen/read/check out whatever comes our way with an open mind. If we have something positive to say then you'll get some coverage on line or in print or on air, if we don't then we pass it on. Major mainstream corporate label stuff and we don't like goes on to ebay or down the second hand record shop, we got printing bills to pay so keep the Hard-fi/Kaiser Chief/Funeral For A Friend junk flowing and we'll sell it off just as quickly as you send it - we love ebay, were happy to be upfront about it; what else are we supposed to do with Bloodhound Gang CDs? if you don't like that then we didn't ask you to send anything in the first place did we? And yes, we do need advertising to pay for all this, but hey, nothing gets advertised if we don't feel positive about it so don't be thinking advertising buys you a good review. You're confusing us with the mainstream press when you ask us questions like "Hey, if we take out an advert, do we get a good review?"One more thing, please don't just message us and ask for an address or an interview/review WHEN YOU CLEARLY HAVEN'T BOTHERED READING AN ISSUE or checking out our website and finding out what we're about - Why the hell would anyone want to be featured in a publication they haven't read anyway? Read the magazine, read the website... you NEED to at least take the time to check out an Organ before you ask us to cover you - Here's a hint, if we haven't shown an interest after your 17th e.mail we're probably not that interested. Send something in if you want to, if we like it you'll hear from us or you'll get coverage or radioplay - you'll know if we like it... we try to check out bands on My Space but honestly grabbbbbing 30 seconds on line is not the same as a demo or an album that we can listen to properly...CHECKING OUT MATERIAL ON LINE OR HERE AT MY SPACE - People, there just isn't enough time in the day. Everyday hundreds of bands we've never heard of asking to be added to our friends list or asking us to check out tracks on My Space. We do check out losts of bands on my Space when we have some reason to be curious about a band - there is not enough time to just randomly check out every band - we usuually click on your page, take in about five seconds (invite you to subsctibe ot our blog - hey you asked ot be added to our friends lsit, that blog tells you lots about what we're doing). if you want our attention or coverage then send something in via good old snail mail. Send something in we'll listen to it properly - you get full attention and maybe some really helpful positive coverage, airplay and maybe even more.. choice is yours - al lyou bands who think that all you need to do is put up a My Space page then sit bac kand wait for everyone to come to you are,,,, well, work it out yourselves...xoxnow check this live SPIRITWO video...or this old GNA an ORG RECORDS thing from the 90'sobject width="425" height="350"

My Interests

music, punk rock, prog rock, metal, post-rock, creative indie-rock and mostly bands that don't fit in to any nice little compartments.... Bands who get off their arses and do it themselves, DIY/real independant record labels, LO-FI asthetics/creativity, gig promoting, riot grrrl ethos. communication, working with people and sharing space with people who have their heads in the right place, mail art, textiles, creative possitive Anarchy, free festivals, resonably priced festivals that aren't swamped with marketing, Fanzines, extreme metal, people who create, pop art, street art...

I'd like to meet:

That's in the hands of you - people with creative energy and who want to give as well as take - people who are REALLY interested, PEOPLE WHO REALLY CARE. We don't want to hear from bands who think we're just a stepping stone or a career option and we're really not interested in just being marketing at by you so don't do it. ...

Heroes:

There are no heroes really, just go do it yourself. You could always check out George Tabb though, not so much a hero, more one of our own (an old school zine guy, creator, punk rock activist and giver) who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and through no fault of his own is now getting the crap end of the stick and no help from his own government. This isn't some political statement from us, this isn't us making a statement about terrorism or American policy or anything other than us shouting about a zine guy who put a lot in to the underground and who now needs our help a little more then you bands and labels do - go check his page, you'll find it there in our top friends... just go see and then take a moment to spread the word a little, questions things, demand help for George Tabb before its too late, stick his profile in your top friends, blog, link, shout, do - everyone of you bands, labels, promoters who ever got some support from a zine, a zine guy needs you now please...
