About Me

THE BLOG INDEX WILL BE BACK SOON. IT'S UNDERGOING NECESSARY MAINTENANCE, AND LIKE THE WEST COAST MAIN LINE THIS MIGHT TAKE LONGER THAN IT SHOULD. IN THE MEANTIME YOU CAN STILL ACCESS A VERSION THAT GOES UP TO MID-FEBRUARY 2008 HERE - SORRY :-(
Good evening and welcome to Manchester (and sometimes beyond)'s least coherent but relatively comprehensive live music review filing cabinet. Bang it here to read my exhaustive Review Of 2007 featuring the best gigs and records of the year along with top indie stars' (er, and Uncle Liam's) contributions, a celebration of Scunthorpe and the funniest photo of The Whip ever...
I write about things for www.manchestermusic.co.uk and things in green type on the blog are also to be found on there. I take photos; not great photos, I leave that to the professionals. I have a cheap and somewhat temperamental camera which I have now managed to break the zoom button on by dropping it down some stairs. But if I have been at a gig you were at or playing then there might be more photos at http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v315/cathaubergine/ - the index on that is truly incomprehensible even to me. Oh and I help out a bit here and there with a rather excellent band called Air Cav....
..
Beside this I still have a full time job because I need to eat. Thanks to everyone who reads and comments anyway. If you are in a band and send me a friend request it might take a while before I can listen to you as my full time job plus going out nearly every night plus keeping the website up to date equals more hours in a day than there are. If you're a rubbish covers band just don't bother.
You can send press releases / news stories for Manchestermusic to me via the message system here if you like: please include as many details as you can, with URL's for bands / promoters and any background info you may wish to impart, and give me a week or two's notice... Feel free to use my Comments bit to advertise your forthcoming gigs, but I reserve the right to delete anything that clashes with anything I'm trying to get people to go to, or anything that looks rubbish.

My Interests

Travelodges. Travelodge car parks. Ridiculous 4am drinking sessions in Travelodge car parks. Nearly getting thrown out of Travelodges. That kind of thing. Now where's my f***ing loyalty card?

I'd like to meet:

pay-to-play and forced-ticket-buy promoters, and steal their fat wallets so they know how it feels and give all the money back to the bands they've fleeced... and decent, non-pay-to-play promoters who do it for the love of music and should therefore be supported and encouraged.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME INVITATIONS TO GIGS RUN BY FORCED BUY / P2P PROMOTERS AS I DON'T HAVE THE TIME IN MY LIFE TO HELP THEM LINE THEIR POCKETS.

It's been a week ManchesterMusic.co.uk would rather forget, as we try and repair the damage some hacker has inflicted on the website; somewhere out there is some computer geek, probably a fat spotty v...
