Minimal... Dirt... Rock...

About Me

Welcome to the Stray Dog Cafe Myspace Stray Dog Cafe hail from Wigan in the Northwest of England. Their unique approach to noise (aka ’Minimal-Dirt-Rock’) has left audiences entertained and bewildered in equal measure.
Drawing from the deep well of guitar music that has gone before reviewers have name dropped McClusky, Shellac, The Fall, Country Teasers and Truman’s Water in their attempt to define what it is exactly that Stray Dog Cafe do.
The Minimal Dirt Rock Manifesto is the only comment the band will make.
Minimal - Because less is more! Dirt - Because raw is better! Rock - As in ’designed to wow’!’
Their fat, incessant bass lines coupled with scathing, scratchy guitar riffs and complex jazz-rhythmic drumming have earned them a reputation as one of the best live bands in Manchester’s underground scene.
Stray Dog Cafe have played with Part Chimp, James Chance, Oxes, Blood Red Shoes and Youth Movies. Their latest release, a 7" vinyl single (Maxamillion/THEME: from Warlock) has recently been reviewed in Wire magazine. Future releases (Stray Dog Cafe are currently beginning recording new tracks and existing records are being mastered as we speak) are planned and will be courtesy of UBiK records. Booking the band
You can contact Stray Dog Cafe for bookings through this site which is checked regularly. Stray Dog Cafe are currently taking bookings for 2008.

Sounds Like: Quotes

"...loose, Fall-informed drunkeness to their guitar-rock approach. They shout a little, grovel in riff-dirt a little, and sound happy to hoot while they shamble." - THE WIRE

"More than pretty damn unique, interesting...and, listen up - inventive. " - Sleazegrinder

"Noise-pop trio Stray Dog Café have an admirable range of influences and leftfield ideas…self-mocking really underplays the impressive level of imagination on board. " - Manchestermusic
