This year’s ACT ART event sub-title is DYING FOR IT!
DYING FOR IT! address’s what’s wrong with the world today.
For example negative moral or ethical judgments, cruel, unjust and selfish human behaviour.
War and diseases like cancer and aids. Poverty, famine and global warming caused by human actions. CCTV, censorship, celebrity culture, and the media circus.
These are a few examples of what’s wrong with the world today, however as usual artists are invited to either respond to this year’s sub title and/ or propose work related to the body in the broadest sense.
TAKE PART:
Proposal deadline: Friday 29th August 2008.
Sometimes we select work before the deadline and therefore advise applicants to propose work as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

ACT ART'S MISSION
ACT ART aims to create an event that celebrates difference within artistic practices, supports cross-discipline ways of working and offers a safe environment to exhibit work in all disciplines, including live art, performance, video, installation and selected 2D + 3D work. With a particular emphasis on works that are experimental, radical, challenging, confrontational and non-mainstream.
ACT ART programmes work by both emerging and established artists and individuals operating in artistic sub cultures all of which are united by an interest in the body, and have understanding of interdisciplinary practice.
ACT ART aims to show work by artists that work on the edge of the art world, were the boundaries between art and alternative underground scenes come together.
ACT ART believes in bringing emerging artists together alongside more established practitioners in an attempt to create a dialogue between artists and their work, as well as staging an event that is open to everyone and alienates nobody.
ACT ART aims to create a space were artists can show their work in a different context to the gallery system, each event so far has been staged in unexpected places (for example) a church, a public house, and a series of railway arches.
ACT ART aims to programme a diverse selection of work, some of which can be difficult to watch, and deals with issues that many galleries and institutions shy away from.
