The Vitiligo Society has launched its information-packed new website with the release of a star studded new video. Hollyoaks actress Claire Cooper, Gladiators' Spartan and comedienne Shazia Mirza donated their time to appear alongside Vitiligo Society member Elana in the powerful 'Masks' film. The film reminds us that we're all vulnerable without our masks.

The Vitiligo Society's summer campaign aims to increase awareness about vitiligo, the condition that causes around half a million Britons - one in every hundred people across the UK - to develop loss of pigment to their skin. Vitiligo sufferers are being urged to take particular care this summer as the condition can leave people increasingly vulnerable to the damaging effects of the sun.
TV's Dr Linda Papadopoulos also supports the Vitiligo Society. She says, "Whilst there is currently no cure for vitiligo, there are treatments that can slow down its progress or, in some cases, even bring about complete repigmentation. However research shows that treatments are most effective at early onset of the condition, so it's imperative to get young people the treatment and advice they need as early as possible. ...The continual dangers of sun exposure are also a key factor in making awareness for vitiligo a key priority."
