About Me

Jihye Lee started to learn jazz at the Seoul Jazz Academy in South Korea where she also obtained a basis in classical as well as traditional singing technique. In the same period, she formed her own band, with which she performed mainly traditional jazz, theater music and free jazz. She was invited by the representative Korean percussion player Heehyun Kim to perform at a show which was broadcasted on the Korean TV channel KBS.

Since five years she has been studying jazz in Europe. She obtained a bachelor degree in The Hague, where she studied mainstream jazz and bebop. She started to work on her own compositions influenced by jazz, funk, traditional music, contemporary music and avant-garde art.

At present she's studying at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels where she's applying for a master degree in jazz singing. In the meantime she participated in Brussels international young jazz singers competition 2007 and had an honor to win the first prize and the prize of public. And she has a plan to record her first CD when she finishes her study in June 2008.
