Mathilde Renault is a young pianist, singer and composer.
She was born in Malmedy in 1986, both her parents are musicians.
Her main passion has always been composition and creation; as a kid she played music, painted and photographed.
But she only really began to study the piano at the age of 16 even if she already played and composed before.
She began to sing with bulgarian singers and then went away of that kind of singing to create her own style.
She always did free improvisation,every time she met a new musician on her way,and she's still doing it...
The Band Overoceans was born from the meeting between Mathilde and American violonist Caroline Shaw (classical) .
Now added to the duo are percussionist Stephan pougin and bass player Arne Van Dongen.
In june 2006 Overoceans recorded Mathilde's compositions and the album ALIANA LUDA is OUT NOW on the Label Carbon 7.
She studied piano with Nathalie Loriers,Pierre Thomas and is currently studying with Diederick Wissels.

And did masterclasses with Dave Liebman,Roberto Cippelli,Maria Pia De Vito,Mario Laginha,...Zanga is her new band with Janos Bruneel on Double Bass and Stein Cools on drums.Then,she has a duo with the swedish saxophonist Jonas Knutsson and they're going to record a new album on label Igloo,they will play in the end of october and on cd release tour in the end of january.Recently Zanga invited Jonas Knutsson at Brosella Jazz Festival in Brussels.
They will probably play some more quartet gigs too.The 10 october,Zanga is inviting saxophonist Robin Verheyen for a live captation for radio RTBF Jazz on Musiq3.
The concert will take place in the Flagey at 12h30.
