Marie-Anne Standaert

Marie-Anne Standaert is a Belgian based jazz trumpet player. She started playing flugelhorn in the local band of a small village in FLanders, and, immediately she knew: " OK , that's the thing that I want to do in my life ... " After college and a bachelor in social work, she went to the conservatory of Brussels, where she studied jazz trumpet with Richard Rousselet and Laurent Blondiau. During this studies she started playing some small jazz gigs and soms horn sections in coverbands. In the same period she tried to follow some masterclasses, for example with Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava, Claudio Roditi. She also has a lot of respect for the classical trumpet player " Manu Mellaerts", because he learned her a lot ! For the moment her most important bands are : " The Rhythm Junks", her "Special Quintet", and her trio : "Misstriohso". She also does some freelance work and she teaches jazz trumpet and combo in the academy of Ghent and the conservatory of Kortrijk.
