About Me

The purpose of this profile is to help raise awareness of the terrible "disease" that is child abuse .

Estimates now state that at least 1 in 3 children will have survived some form of child abuse before reaching the age of 18 .
How many more children have to suffer before someone listens & does something about it? I'm sick of these bastards and the way they seem to get away with it.
I have no idea what's happened to the so-called " Justice System " - if you rob a train filled with Government money you get 30+ years, but if you rob a child of his or her childhood .... all you get is a slap on the wrist or a fucking suspended sentence. Where's the logic ?
I ask you to join me & my fellow campaigners in the fight to stop this madness.... once & for all .
MY STORY
I endured abuse in the form of rape , molestation & mental torture from the age of 7, for 3 years. My abuser threatened to slit my throat if I ever told anyone - of course I listened. I was young & frightened - I never uttered a word.
Only very recently at the age of 32, was I able to finally tell. For years I have struggled with anxiety, depression & low self-esteem because of having to keep it all inside. Also in the past, I have wrongly depended on alcohol as an escape.
I refuse to keep my mouth shut any longer - enough is enough . I'm here to tell all those who are still staying silent.... DON'T .
You are NOT to blame & you are NOT weak - don't make the same mistakes I've made, don't suffer in silence.... JUST TELL .

Do YOU Know the Behavioural Signs of Childhood Sexual Abuse :
These might include a marked change in the child's general behaviour. For example, they may become unusually quiet & withdrawn, or unusually aggressive.
The child may refuse to attend school or start to have difficulty concentrating on their schoolwork.
They may show unexpected fear or distrust of a particular adult, or refuse to continue with their usual social activities.
They may start using sexually explicit behaviour or language, particularly if the behaviour/language is not appropriate for their age.
The child may describe receiving special attention from a particular adult, or refer to a new "secret" friendship with an adult or young person.
What Action to Take :
What should I do if my child tells me they have been sexually abused?
Your child probably feels very anxious & embarrassed about what has happened. So although you will naturally feel very upset yourself, try not to react in a way that adds to their distress. For example, with disbelief or blame. Try your best to:
* Keep calm.
* Listen very carefully to what your child tells you.
* Make clear that you believe what they are telling you.
* Allow your child to tell you as much as they want to about the abuse, but don't force them to talk about it.
* Tell your child that they have done the right thing in telling you.
* Tell them that they are not to blame for the abuse.
Important Note:
DO NOT confront the abuser yourself. Your priority must be to stop the abuse & protect the child by getting expert advice as soon as possible.
