Hi, I'm Alec (not Alex!!) from Bradford, Republic of Yorkshire, North of England !!
I am married to the most wonderful lady in the universe and have been since August '05 (see pics).
In my day to day life, I am an Electronics Engineer, working for a consumer electronics company who design and produce digital television receivers. It's kinda cool but sometimes difficult.
For kicks, music is where I'm at. Over the years I have been in a few bands such as Dark Embrace, Dawnraiser, Purity Cries, Reeved and Jigsaw Culture amongst others. I play mainly guitar but also play a little keyboards and enjoy singing. I have my own home project studio that I don't really put to enough use but I tinker from time to time. For information on all of my musical activities, both past and present, you can visit my Music MySpace Page
As well as creating music, I have had some experience of DJ'ing in Bradford rock pubs The Empress (RIP) for around 5 years and before that The Smithy (RIP) for a few months. I have made a recent return to the DJ chair up at The Head pub (soon to be returned to its original name of The Mannville Arms), where I will be spinning the wheels of justice one Friday a month.br
I have also had some experience in promoting gigs and club nights and a little in live sound engineering.
I was also on the moderating team of a local music community www.cyphermusic.net until it disappeared recently. However, the son of Cypher "Distort Reason" is now online and I visit there quite often, although there is presently no need for that level of moderation. It is accessible from the same URL.
You scored as atheism. You are... an atheist, though you probably already knew this. Also, you probably have several people praying daily for your soul.Instead of simply being "nonreligious," atheists strongly believe in the lack of existence of a higher being, or God.

My Interests

I love music, both playing and listening. Watching films, cooking, going out and socialising, drinking copious amounts of real ale and cider, tinkering with my studio gear (which I should do more of really). I love cats but hate dogs (vile creatures!). I am a passionate atheist too (perhaps too outspoken at times). My wife is a catholic but we manage to maintain a mutual respect (well, most of the time).

Bradford - don't you just love it!!

I'd like to meet:

Anyone really, I'm a sociable kind of dude! I like my rock music and am interested in hearing from similar folks.

Quite opinionated about stuff, I don't like religion, anti-feminist (although far from being chauvenist), pro-abortion, not exactly pro-hunting but not sure I agree with the ban, I am an omnivore (I love vegetables but I will never give up eating meat) and I don't like parasites - I work hard for my money and my home and don't see why people should get their's for free. No I don't have any spare fucking change!

Believe it or not though, I do respect anybody's viewpoint and in fact have many good friends who do not share some or all of mine. I won't be preached to and I try not to preach.

I have a few MySpace preferences:

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to listen to every new band that "adds" me as their friend or to voice an opinion of their music. Much as I like to support and hear new bands, I am often inclined to deny them as a MySpace friend. Please don't be offended if this happens to your band.

Please don't leave copious flyer type adverts for gigs in my comments section. I don't mind the odd one off plug but they generally just clutter the place up and get deleted.

Oh, and I don't read many junk bulletins - they are mostly crap and pointless so I just don't bother. Not into countless questionnaires etc, don't have the time or inclination I'm afraid. Feel free to send me a PM or leave a comment if you want to speak to me. I also use MSN. My username is [email protected]. Feel free to add me.

Music:

Music is my life - I love dodgy 70's prog as well as most other forms of rock music (metal, punk, psych, indie), I also like a bit of jazz and have recently been getting into Miles Davis. My tastes are very varied. I like anything with imagination or soul. Consequently, I don't like dance music (with one or two exceptions) or rap music. Not too keen on opera either but I do like a bit of classical. There are far too many artists/composers to mention here.

Movies:

I love anything with a good story and good characters. I like weird and deep films. Sci-Fi floats my boat. Not so keen on shallow Hollywood blockbusters or horror as a genre. My favourite film is Schindler's List. My wife is forever ribbing me for my choices of film being miserable but I am partial to the odd rom com occasionally.

Television:

Dr Who, House MD, Kung-Fu (David Carradine), V, Battlestar Galactica, ReGenesis, The X Files, Quincy, Friends, The Simpsons (who doesn't like that?), King of the Hill, I like dramas and comedies. I used to watch soaps a lot but have been weaned off them (I was getting bored of them anyway). I don't like airhead reality TV. I have to physically leave the room when Big Brother is on.

Books:

Not a big reader, probably due to too much studying over the last 10 years. I like biographies but I tend to read about 1 book a year at the most. I very much enjoyed "Inside Out" - Nick Mason's story of Pink Floyd.

Heroes:

David Gilmour, Peter Hammill, Peter Gabriel, Fish, Mark Knopfler, Jimmy Nail, Liam Neeson, William Shatner, Rolf Harris, John Shuttleworth but most importantly, my father.

My letter to the T&A printed 4/9/07

As is often the case, if there is any margin for error the T&A will sail right on into it. It was great that the letter was printed and there were a few happy landlords around Bradford this week becau...
