About Me

Graduated in flute at “St. Cecilia” Conservatory of Rome with Enrico Casularo. Improved in performance practice of XX century chamber music with Nestor Eidler, he has also attended for three years the course “MusicaEnergia” (Music & Energy) in Italy and Spain. He performed many concerts in Italy and abroad. He studied composition with Mauro Cardi, focusing on electronic music, music & imaging interaction research and musical metalinguistic topics as deepest communication media. First-class degree in Electronic Music at Perugia Conservatory with Luigi Ceccarelli.He collaborated as a sound director with “Musica Verticale” (festival “Musica in Mostra”, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Goethe Institut - Roma), “C.R.M.” (Centro Ricerche Musicali) and the composer Michelangelo Lupone (“Ciclo Astrale”, Auditorium del Castello - L'Aquila), and firmly collaborates as a composer and sound director with “Duo Echos”: a contemporary duo that performs with ancients and electronic flutes and devices (Teatro Rendano - Cosenza; festival “Notturno Etrusco” Villa Giulia, festival di Musica Verticale “Musica in Mostra” - Roma, “Houston International Festival” - Texas, U.S.A.; Teatro di Documenti - Roma; “Musique pour les Chateaux” - Sion, Grandson, Chillon, Montreaux, Switzerland).From 1991 till 2000 he collaborated with "Associazione Musica Oggi" - Italian Institute of Computer Music - holding courses and stages about electronic and computer music. From 1994 till 1996, he has been the technical manager of the concerts of “Progetto Musica 2000”, a government project for contemporary music.Sound director and composer of part of the music for the poetry and music concert “Nei Limiti della Norma”, for actress and flute (Palazzo delle Esposizioni - Roma; New York University, N.Y. - U.S.A.; Massey College, Toronto University - Canada), from an idea of Giovannella De Luca and Giovanni Trovalusci. With Giovanni Trovalusci sound director and composer of the music for the show “Segni di Poesia, Lingua di Pace”, for actress, flute and live electronics (Teatro delle Arti - Roma).In 1993 he founded with Rodolfo Siri the musical group “Ace of Pentacles”. “Ace of Pentacles” moves between ambient music, electronic music, ethnic music from middle orient and minimalist music, creating the right fusion and dialog between electronic and acoustic instruments. In 1995 the CD “Ace of Pentacles” was released.
In 2000 he met the percussionist and vocalist Umberto Papadia, from Salento (Apulia - South of Italy), with whom started a profitable research on traditional singing of South of Italy and North Africa. Together they begun the project “Ammaraciccappa” - Ecstatic Rhythms of South Italy, Desert Voices and Metropolitan Sounds -. He is the producer for “Il Canto Lontano” of the first “Ammaraciccappa” CD: “Al Qantarah”, distributed by CNI (Compagnia Nuove Indye).Finalist, with his piece Envoys (for female voice, winds, audio sequencing and live electronics), within the “European competition for live-electronic music projects” organized by ECPNM (European Conference of Promoters of New Music), and hosted by the International Gaudeamus Music Week 2007. Envoys was also selected for the ICMC 2008 that will be held in Belfast August 24th-29th 2008.His piece Riflessioni (for computer processed flute sounds) won the 34rd International Competition of Electroacoustic Music Bourges 2007, in the section Trivium First category, and was also selected within the 3rd Federazione CEMAT call for Electroacoustic Music works.Recently he has started a collaboration with the dancer and choreographer Francesco Scavetta realizing the sound design and the live electronics music for the piece “Sincerely yours”, premiered at Full Moon Dance Festival, Pyhäjärvi – Finland.He is also active as movie soundtracks composer:“Frammenti d'anima incerti” video by Catherine Mc Gilvray.
