About Me

Patrick Dorobisz-Kondracki is composer but also painter, conceptual artist, videoast, digital painter and poet.
He was born on 25 May 1955. Studies at the conservatory and in school art since the age of 7.In 1976 he obtained the National Diploma of Fine Arts (DNBA). In 1986, he obtained the international award of the Bourges Festival for his work "Souprematika "(Computer Music).
"At the conservatory I learnt to write a counterpoint but in Fine arts I understood the musical composition !....."
His works were created in France and Germany during the 1975-1980 period (art galleries or collective exhibitions), in Gent (Institute for psychoacoustic and electronic music -1984-87) during the Bourges Festival (1986-1987), in Lille's opera (1987), during Seoul's Computer Music Festival (1987), in Berlin " The sound of Israel " (1998), during the International Computer Music Conference in Ann Arbor , Michigan (1998) and in Santa Fé- USA. From 1974 onwards Patrick Dorobisz has developed aleatoric repetitive music (rhythmic dephasing of sound sources), by using the analogical electronic means of the time (tape recorders, experimental synthesizers generating micro-tonality, EMS-ARP synthesizers…etc) He produced several experimental works: "Electro1 - Electro 2 - 32 sons" … works created on the occasion of exhibitions or even during the festival of Avignon - 1977)

- In 1984 He uses the computer and the midi. During the period 1984 to 1987 he is invited to the I nstitut for P sychoacoustic and E lectronic M usic in Gent, Belgium ( IPEM ).
" L'orphéon de Jade " , dephased repetitive music for sound materials using the synthesis through frequency modulation (FM synthesis), IPEM Gent creation - 1985.

- In the 90es he wrote several works for symphony orchestra, including “Narvik”, “Treblinka” “83” …etc.
-In 1995 he used the physical modeling of acoustical sounds mixed with classical instrumental writing. About these musical works:
“It's always difficult for a composer to be played by a symphony orchestra by mixing electronic music and instrumental music. in 1997 I decided to play my music with samples, the physical modeling of acoustical sounds and the computer”

Patrick Dorobisz is a French Indie Composer (Not affiliated to a French institution ) but I have to mention by naturalization, not French born.
