Elaine Donnelly is a soloist with the world renowned Irish choral group Anuna. She began singing in her teens, and was awarded a choral scholarship to study music at St Catherine's College, Cambridge. However, she instead decided to study in Dublin, and whilst a medical student there, performed with many highly regarded Dublin based choirs, including Trinity College Singers, Christchurch Cathedral Choir, and Resurgam, under the direction of Mark Duley.
She joined Anuna in 2003 and since then has toured and performed regularly with the group all over Europe and the continental United States. She has appeared with the group on numerous television and radio broadcasts, and in January 2007, Elaine took part in the recording of a TV special "Celtic Origins" for PBS in association with Maryland Public Television, Elevation Group and Third Wave Productions.
Recognising a once-in-a-lifetime chance, Elaine decided to take a sabbatical from her day job as a harrassed doctor, to remain involved with this very exciting project, and was therefore able to tour with the show for 5 months between July and December. She also completed a 10-day tour of Japan with Anuna at the end of December, visiting Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo amongst other places. Anuna are now enjoying some well earned rest from touring and time at home, as is Elaine, but 2008 promises to be a busy one for Anuna, with tours already confirmed for Holland and Lithuania in spring 2008 (see www.anuna.ie for further details).
