Derek is from Dublin, Ireland and has been a singer since a very young age. In the last twelve years has been involved mostly in the choral music scene. Having initially sung in a number of small chamber choirs, he joined the internationally acclaimed choral group Anuna in 1999 where he remains to date. As a member of Anuna he has travelled all over the world and sung in many European festivals and has also toured with them in the States.
Derek began writing and performing his own songs only recently and has had some encouraging results with some of his entries into contemporary song competitions. He has been gigging in a support role over the last two years and has played support for John McGlynn (www.myspace.com/johnmcglynn), Ian King (U.K singer/songwriter) and has also appeared on the same bill as Julie Feeny (www.myspace.com/juliefeeney). As headline, he has played a number of venues in Dublin, notably The Boom Boom Room, The Sugar Club and most recently Bewley's Theatre Cafe.
This year should see some brand new songs appear on an E.P by the end of the summer.
