GIOVANNI CECCARELLI
is a jazz pianist currently sharing his residence between Paris, France and Rome, Italy.
He has played and/or recorded with many outstanding musicians, including Lee Konitz, Benny Golson, Tony Scott, Mark Murphy, Enrico Rava, Massimo Urbani, Amii Stewart, Nancy King, Paolo Fresu, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Pietro Tonolo, Antonello Salis, Bob Wilber, Gianni Coscia, Ettore Fioravanti, Fabrizio Bosso, Rosario Giuliani and Charles Davis.
He has performed throughout Italy, in jazz clubs, theaters, auditoriums and for many music festivals – “Ancona Jazzâ€, “Pescara Jazz Winterâ€, “Jazz a Villa Celimontana†and “Dolce Vita Jazz Festival†in Rome. Ceccarelli has also toured France (“Festival de Jazz en Touraineâ€, “Grenoble Jazz Festivalâ€, “Crest Jazz Vocalâ€, “Jazz a Ramatuelleâ€), Australia (“Italian Jazz Festival†in Melbourne), Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, Germany, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Belgium (“Gaume Jazz Festival 1993â€), Lebanon (“Heineken EuroJazz Festival in Beirouth 1998â€), U.S.A. (Berklee College of Music in Boston and Willamette University in Salem, Oregon), Argentina, Mexico (“Euro Jazz†Festival†and “Festival de Jazz de Michoacà nâ€) and Poland (“Jazz Jamboree 1999â€).
He has partecipated to radio (“Invenzioni a Due Voci†for Radio Rai 3) and television programs (RAI International).
Ceccarelli, who is regarded as a creative and sensitive musician, leads his own musical projects, from solo to trio. He also collaborates with several jazz musicians and groups throughout Europe and takes part in artistic projects involving cinema, poetry, dance and acting.
Ceccarelli currently teaches jazz piano in the City Music School in Orvieto and at “InJazz†summer clynics in Fabriano; moreover he is frequently invited to do workshops and lectures on jazz improvisation. In 1999 he held a lecture on jazz improvisation at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
He is president and founding member of Cultural Association “InJazz†, organizing every year “InJazz†summer clinics and “Incontri con il Jazz†Festival.
