About Me

The Ballachulish Hellhounds were originally formed in the highlands of Scotland around 1988 by a collection of local musicians and stoner buddies. They played only 2 gigs and shortly after The Hellhounds went their separate ways, until a chance meeting between original founders Dochan MacMillan and Zander MacFarlane rekindled their passion for old timey music and cheap whisky. Thus the Hellhounds reformed as an acoustic bluegrass/country blues outfit, borrowing and stealing guest players along the way. The Hellhounds have been playing selected gigs around Scotland for the past 4yrs enthralling audiences with their free flowing, honest, entertaining, balls to the walls good-time mayhem! The Hellhounds, on your trail! 2007 saw The Hellhounds playing Glasgow's famous Free Candy Sessions, The North Country Ramble Festival in Cannich, Cottiers Theatre, Glasgow, The Wickerman Festival, Dumfries and Galloway, The Tartan Heart Fringe Festival, The Edinburgh Festival, Creiff and Barfly, Glasgow supporting The Hackensaw Boys. 2008 has seen The Hellhounds play Nice n Sleazys (electric), headline shows at Stripped Bare @ The Vale and The Free Candy Sessions in Glasgow. We have also played a live session on Sunny Govan Switchback Radio and took part in the inaugural Subway Sessions on Glasgows Underground. Coming up over the summer is a gig with Scottish Folk Hero's The Tannahill Weavers @ The Paisley Arts Centre on 27th June, The Tartan Heart Fringe Festival @ The Twa Tams, Perth, Belladrum Festival in August and a return to the Edinburgh Festival to confirm, its busy summer ahead! The Hellhounds can be contacted for gigs at [email protected] Give us a call, we wont bite...............well maybe! The songs on this myspace were recorded at The Free Candy Sessions, Glasgow in June 2007. We are currently recording a whole bunch of new tunes, available FREE to download soon!THE ELECTRIC HELLHOUNDS are a side project featuring a full rock show with Zander, Dochan and John Murphy hitting the drums.
