About Me

This is where I probably should talk in the third person. But I won't. So.... Hello! The band is doing great, the songs are sounding good and I'm having a ball. Nuff said! Here's the boring snoozy history stuff........... I was in two bands before 'going solo'. I played in blues band the One-Eyed Jacks and country band The Bob Cherry's. Having played blues, country and rock, the newer stuff, I suppose, is kind of a mixture between the three. I had a surplus of songs written for both bands so I started recording all the songs on an 8-track at home. I wrote around 30 songs last year (2007) so I whittled 'em down to ten songs and put them on CD. Six of them are on this site for your listening pleasure! I really enjoyed the folkier sound I was moving towards with the songs and I felt stripping them down to 'three-chord'' tricks and telling stories was not only working well, but found it was the way I enjoyed playing most. Some friends and other musicians suggested, though, I should still work with a band to bring out the energy that some of those tunes had. So, 'The Steelworkers Union of New Jersey' was born. The band got together in May 2008 and started working on all the new material. Bringing in drums and bass had the required effect. The band, much quicker than I had even expected, gelled well and we were soon playing gigs around Dublin - in great venues like Whelans, Radio City, The Boom Boom Room and The Cobblestone. Right now I'm just putting the finishing touches on an EP. And the band are in rehearsals before going in to record the album in January. Can't Wait!
