NALEDi was born in the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, Africa... the very night that Halley's Comet burned across the midnight black desert sky. The local village women gave her the honorary name Naledi (pronounced Nah-Lady), which means 'star' because there is no word for 'comet' in their language. NALEDi is a registered Trademark. NALEDi was 3 years old when she knew that she wanted to be a singer... and 7 years old when she wrote her very first song.
She grew up in Texas but as a British/American dual-citizen, spent alot of time in Europe, which opened her eyes to diversity and culture. At 15 she discovered Memphis, Tennessee and began spending as much time as she could down on Beale Street absorbing the Blues music. While her music is
not classic Blues but her own Pop blend, she took from her appreciation of the Blues its reputation for putting your pain and love into your songs, as well as wearing your heart on your sleeve onstage.
She released her first full length album '... in the rain' when she was just 17 years old living in Austin,TX. This album contained songs she had written when she was 15-17 years old - and her first time in a professional recording studio at sweet 16 she described as 'Heavenly.'
At 19 years old NALEDi moved to Nashville, Tennessee to work with a producer whom she met one rainy night in Memphis. During her time in Music City, NALEDi recorded a 4 song demo with local musicians led by trumpet legend, Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns.
A songwriter, author, painter and dancer... NALEDi is a true artist (terrible at math;)
Following Dr. Maya Angelou's words,'Luck is when preparation meets the opportunity' at 21, NALEDi is prepared.
Currently on hiatus from the music industry to focus on her health and writing new songs and books, NALEDi is grateful for the constant support of her loyal listeners and this opportunity to continue sharing her music.___________________________________________________
