DNA - Here I am...

About Me

Okay, just a short story then....From around the age of 12 I started playing guitar and drums; drums even earlier if you count pounding on everything in sight and playing imaginary drums like playing air-guitar. Then I had to choose one to go further and as I wasn't feeling like I could progress on drums but had a huge challenge playing guitar, I chose the guitar. I never had any real lessons, but learned from playing a lot with other musicians and picking up things from them. I have played in some cover-bands and filled spots where other guitarists could not perform due to whatever reason, I played in countless jam-sessions and started my own band around 2002. After some changes in the line-up it became 4 Leaf Clover, where our ideas became songs because we all were finally playing with some GOOD musicians!!! Hahaha, just kidding. It just seemed like everything was working out musically, at least for about a year and a half. After recording a demo-cd with 5 songs, writing about 13 songs, playing about 11 gigs, we sadly broke up in the end of 2005. After that I joined an acoustic group playing covers from Rolling Stones in a slightly different way; but that was put on hold. At the start of 2006 I recorded my own solo-cd. Later this year we'll see if I can put together another band...........you'll have to wait and find out!Stanley

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: Pictures courtesy of Richard Fieten & Roel Geenen.
Band Members: Currently I'm in a new band called D.N.A. which stands for Damn Near Anything, together with Nicolas Pieck on bass and Rick Hovens on drums. Both are also members of Touchin' Tongues, and Rick was also drummer for 4 Leaf Clover, my last band. Also Sam Hovens joined us on the rythmguitar for a short while, but due to personal reasons he left the band. We are now joined by Michel Wijlaars on guitar who you may recognize from Neet oet Lottum. A few weeks ago we started rehearsing with Marij Driessen on vocals and a week later we recorded 'Inside' a rock version and an accoustic version. Accoustic you can already check out on the DNA-space. The rock version will be uploaded as soon as Niels Koster has laid a hand on the final mix!!! So be patient...We are writing new material and have started working on songs and hopefully hit the stage in the near future. I'm performing with Michel accoustically (is that even a word?) December 27th with local top-vocalist and December 28th with DNA during Venlo on Ice 2006, so come join the Partaaayyyh !? We'll keep you all posted on how things are working out and hope to see you at a gig real soon. Keep checking in !!!Stanley'Inside' Marij Driessen: Vocals Stanley Lalin: Guitars Michel Wijlaars: Guitars Rick Hovens: Drums Nico Pieck: Bass'The lonely road' Mario Nagtzaam: Vocals Stanley Lalin: Guitars Rick Hovens: Drums Roy Hofman: Bass Music: S.Lalin Lyrics: M.Nagtzaam'Gracefully' Stanley Lalin: Guitar, vocals Maarten Louer: Fender Rhodes Recorded by Niels Koster'This is me' Stanley Lalin: Guitars, drum-programming Nico Pieck: Bass Recorded by Niels Koster
Influences: Of course Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Jimi Hendrix, John Petrucci as guitarplayers. Also Glenn Hughes, David Coverdale, Sammy Hagar, Mario Nagtzaam as singers. As bands I like the sorts from Creed to Alter Bridge to Dream Theater to Richie Kotzen to Intwine to Van Halen to Whitesnake to Pearl Jam to Godsmack and Metallica, but really I like any music that sounds good, including the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Terence Trent D'Arby, Prince, Corey Glover. I sure like good soul and funk (from Mothers Finest to RHCP to Marvin Gaye), also R&B like Mary J.Blige, Aaliyah, pop-rock like Anouk and Kane, but I'm mainly very much rock-influenced with a hint of funk and soul. Lately I've come to appreciate Country and Folk music and especially singer/songwriters who play acoustic guitar or piano. Local bands I like are Touchin Tongues and V-Male.
