TJ Oosterhuis is an all-round songwriter and music producer, based in the Netherlands. As a young kid, he already loved playing the piano. His creative parents – his mother a violinist and his father a well-known Dutch poet – stimulated young TJ to pursue a life in music.
He began his professional career in 1996 as producer, songwriter, keyboard player and bandleader in the extremely popular pop-soul band Total Touch, where he shared the spotlights with his now internationally celebrated sister, singer Trijntje Oosterhuis. The first Total Touch album sold over half a million copies and ranks as the best-selling album ever by a pop group in the Netherlands. The band recorded two multi-platinum albums in total, sold over 1 million records worldwide, and went on to receive multiple awards and platinum records.
Because of his international-sounding productions for Total Touch, TJ soon became one of the most respected and successful names in the Dutch popular music scene. He has been working with the crème de la crème of the Dutch popular music scene for over a decade now, writing a string of 1 hits and contributing to several gold and platinum albums. In 1997, he established his own music production company and studio, Double Easthouse Music Productions. He also started his own publishing company Tee-Jack Music Publishing, and New Amsterdam Music, a writer’s pool for developing new talent.
A number of songs from the DEMP catalogue became hits in the Netherlands, Belgium & Portugal. In 2005, he was responsible for the biggest hit single in the Netherlands in 2005, and he wrote the ultimate summer hit of 2006. He also released several songs in Germany, the UK and the USA. TJ took home many music awards in his career, including five TMF Awards and the prestigious Zilveren Harp.
TJ likes to take on many different musical projects, like the composition of leaders and production work for a number of popular TV shows like Big Brother, Starmaker, All You Need Is Love and many others. He also composes music for musicals, movies and plays. In addition, he regularly produces radio and TV-commercials for internationally renowned companies such as Renault and Coca-Cola, and for international European events such as Euro 2000. In 2005, he co-wrote all the compositions and arrangements for a modern opera based on Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, which mixed classical vocals, rap and R&B, and worked on a Dutch version of the Brothers Lionheart, the famous Astrid Lindgren play.
Currently, TJ is traveling back and forth between the U.S.A., the U.K. and Sweden, where he is co-writing songs with international songwriters & producers.
