Bart Oostindie

About Me

At the age of 18, Bart Oostindie travels through Europe as a street musician. Because of his love for jazz and his urge to learn how to play jazz guitar, Bart Oostindie decides to study at the conservatory in Maastricht situated in the south of the Netherlands. In 2002 he joins the popular Dutch soul/funk band MoJones with whom he plays on the North Sea Jazz festival in 2003. Together with piano player Mike Roelofs, who was also playing in the MoJones band, Bart forms his own project: Down South. Their first album One On One is recorded by friend and producer Léon Bartels for the MCP Record label. In 2004, Bart starts to focus on his songwriting. With his song Grandson, he wins the Alfa Award in 2005, and decides to form a new group: the Bart Oostindie Band. Bass player Jo Didderen, drummer Sjoerd Rutten and again Mike Roelofs are recruited, to record an EP entitled Grandson. Bart proves himself to be multifunctional and works with a lot of artists in The Netherlands, such as Arno Adams, Sherry Dyanne, Dewi and Frans Hermans to name a few. In 2005, Bart starts to play with the highly popular Dutch group: Treble.
