Daily Grind Organics

Good for you. Good for the planet.

About Me

I V4.4
The Daily Grind WAS a one of a kynd natural food store in Portland, Oregon.

Located at
4026 SE Hawthorne Boulevard (503 233 5521)
We were a Southeast Portland meeting place for vegetarians and all people interested in eating "outside the box".
We bought locally whenever possible and encouraged start-up businesses by marketing merchandise produced by local craftspeople.
From the fresh baked breads and pastries, to the vegan hot lunch and amazing salad bar, we catered to the needs of those who have chosen to follow a healthy, sustainable lifestyle.
We carried many hard to find items for folks on special diets, and our selection of organic produce and bulk foods was second to none.
The vitamin and bulk herb departments were extensive and we prided ourselves on having a wonderful selection of teas of all kinds, many sold in bulk.
Whether you needed a spoonful of cinnamon, a fresh baked vegan pie and Coconut Bliss, vitamin C or MSM in bulk, or 100 pounds of grain, we had you covered.
It was all about the grindage.
We were gastronomically grateful for the palatable pleasure of PAPA G's smorgasbord of vegan delights available daily in the Cafe. Whether hot from the buffet paired with an amazing selection of salad bar offerings, or after hours a' la carte, there was always something to satisfy even the most "sensitive" constitution.

BREAKTHROUGH--Healthy Vegan Family
The Future of Food (2004) (GM Foods)
There is a revolution happening in the farm fields and on the dinner tables of America -- a revolution that is transforming the very nature of the food we eat.THE FUTURE OF FOOD offers an in-depth investigation into the disturbing truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade. From the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada to the fields of Oaxaca, Mexico, this film gives a voice to farmers whose lives and livelihoods have been negatively impacted by this new technology. The health implications, government policies and push towards globalization are all part of the reason why many people are alarmed by the introduction of genetically altered crops into our food supply.Shot on location in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, THE FUTURE OF FOOD examines the complex web of market and political forces that are changing what we eat as huge multinational corporations seek to control the world's food system. The film also explores alternatives to large-scale industrial agriculture, placing organic and sustainable agriculture as real solutions to the farm crisis today.
