Issue 009: Piracy Pays
Below is a glimpse of the stories.

Drink and the Devil Had Done for the Rest
By Noel Darcy

It was a lonely life. Sure, we partied. The flagons of rum always went down smooth, and the parrot’s obscenity could never get old. And then there was the treasure. The treasure, methinks, was what kept a man in it for so long. But all good things must come to an end...( r e a d . m o r e )

That Time in My Life
By Brian Jannarelli

Not many people know that certain pirate themed establishments across the country run escort services on the side. It’s true; it goes all the way back to the 1700s, when the Golden Age of Piracy dwindled and left a surplus of aspiring sea swindlers landlocked...( r e a d . m o r e )

Stealing from Tomorrow
By C. Christopher Hart

Brian placed the disc on my desk.“It’s Arcade Fire’s next album,” he said.“I just bought it,” I said.“No,” he said. “It’s the one after that. The one they release two years from now..."( r e a d . m o r e )

view all FAQs Q.What is crawlspace?
A. Crawlspace is an e-zine of original fiction; we use MySpace networking as a tool to promote interaction between writers and readers.

Q.How do I submit to crawlspace?
A. Click the link to the upper left. Then cut n' paste your story into the email. Easy.

Q.What kind of stories are you looking for?
A. Stories can be any genre of fiction, so long as they're under 1000 words and relate somehow to the theme. For an idea of what we publish, check out our current issue or previous issues in the archives (links on lower left).

Q.What kind of compensation do your contributors receive?
A. Since crawlspace is an all volunteer labor of love, we can't offer money for stories or art. However, if chosen, you will be promoted on our page and receive our priceless, undying affection.

Q.Can musicians submit music suggestions for an upcoming issue's soundtrack?
A. Song suggestions which are appropriate to the theme are always appreciated. Generic "hey-check-out-this-band" suggestions, less so.

Q.What are the submission guidelines for artists/illustrators?
A. Please let us know if you're interested in submitting art for a future issue, and where we can see examples of your work.
