Heroes:
I don't have a lot of "heroes" because I think it is a special thing and just a few people in my life have earned that praise.I do have a lot of people who have enriched or influenced my life in some way which has led me to better places. My son, Richard. The very best part of the gifts God has been generous enough to bestow. My daughter, Michelle. She has enriched my life with beauty and companionship. My granddaughter, Nicole. She is the most beautiful girl in the world. (Well, she is!) She has been generous enough to include me in her circle of friends and has given me a chance to be a child again. My sister, Kathy. She was and still is my "first" friend in real life. With less than 18 months between our ages, we have been closer than most sisters--even twins. She is the only person besides my children and grandchildren that I cannot imagine myself being able to live without. My only brother was a veteran of the Viet-Nam war. He was with the 101st Airborne. He was awarded a Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and numerous other honors. He died (in my care)less than 2 weeks before his 56th birthday on April 5, 2005 of ALS (Lou Gherig's Disease). He was a very gifted guitar player. Loosing him was the single most painful thing in my life so far.My father, Hooper Alexander. I lost him in 1979. I never heard him say anything bad about anyone in my whole life, and I have never heard anyone say anything bad about him. He always had a smile to share.Mr. Henke. He taught me (in 9th grade Physical Science) that the best time to keep my mouth shut is when I think I know everything.SBS. Who knew the real me better than anyone ever has in my whole life; he encouraged me to never be afraid to let other people see me as I see myself.Aunt Vivian. She never gave up on me.
