Writers, students, parents, educators, agents, editors, publishers and, desde luego, gente cubana!
Let me know if you're interested in submitting news items and/or your writing to the ChildrenComeFirst.com site.
You can submit not just book reviews but also your writing and thoughts on topics that would reflect the type of news/info we post for our visitors. The
best way to keep up with what's posted to the CCF site is to sign up to receive our FREE electronic bulletin .
Even though the above link will take you to a kid-friendly submission form, PLEASE KNOW you don't have to be a kid to submit! Though we want to encourage children to submit their writing, we have published and yet-to-be-published writers sending in their material. We also have motivational speakers, educators, journalists and others who visit our site and then send us material we can share with the CCF audience. When we post their writings we include their byline and link back to their sites. Contact me if you have any questions.
Publishers, Agents, and Publicists who'd like to have their books reviewed by CCF may send review copies to: Children Come First, Attn: CCF Book Reviews, 1002 Oxford Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80906.

Chan Chan -- Ry Cooder and the Buena Vista Social Club
Orishas
Cuban themed music like The Buena Vista Social Club and words such as what Orishas sing about in above video [ Click para leer 537 Cuba Lyrics ]. Their lyrics transport me back to the land of my birth... "alla lejos donde el sol calienta mas, olvide mi corazon un arroyo y un palmar..." [there, far away, where the sun is warmer, I left my heart, a stream and the palm trees...] the words wake up in me the love I have for Cuba. I adore my adopted homeland, the USA, who took our family in when we left Cuba, and has given our family a future and a hope. But there's something about the words in Orishas' video...they bring to the forefront all my yesterdays. Buena Vista Social Club also fits into this category for me.
Classical music (love listening to it playing softly in the background while I write...no words to distract me, just inspiring melodies).
Country (like Shania Twain's music. Just love it!)
I also love Salsa music. La música latina es tremenda!
Here also is a sexy public demo of Salsa Casino dancing by Variedad who are regarded as one of Cuba's top younger dance couples. This video is from a DVD called Bailar Casino which is given freely, non-copyright, by the Cuban government to promote Cuban dance.
I also love listening to Julio Iglesias and recently saw this youtube video in Thalia's myspace page and had to add it to my profile as well. What an intoxicating combination. The voice and lyrics of one of the most romantic singers ever and the beauty and grace of Thalia.
Sissi: Forever My Love . It's hard to find this movie so I've linked it to where I talk about it at the CCF site. I've always, from my earliest years, believed in and loved reading fairy tales. Sissi is a real live fairy tale. It's the beautiful account of the powerful drama of love and courage of Princess Elizabeth (Sissi) of Bavaria and her prince charming, Austrian Archduke Franz Joseph.
