HINKEL is the solo project of
Volker Hinkel, co-author/guitarist/producer of Fools Garden.
Founded for the first time in 1993 for the production of the album
"In The Wake Of Thunder" (1994), this project had a brand new start in 2002 when
Dirk Blümlein (bass) and
Claus Müller (drums) joined the line-up.
The 3-piece band worked on a new album,
"Not A Life-Saving Device", which was released in August 2005.
In 2006 Hinkel comes to MySpace and starts a proficuous web marketing campaign.
Hinkel is currently working on a new upcoming EP, including four brand new songs and a cover of
"Heaven And Hell" by John Entwistle.
In the meanwhile the song
"House Of Love", taken from "Not A Life-Saving Device", has been chosen to be included in the soundtrack of the upcoming US movie
"The Other Side Of The Tracks", directed by A.D. Calvo and with the TV series 'Roswell' star
Brendan Fehr in the leading role.
While
"Shine" and
"Run" from the same album are included in the digital split
"The Big Eye", realized together with The Mirrors, with cover art by
Andy from Bluvertigo, which has been released in Italy under the indie label
Echophonic in March 2008.
Volker Hinkel was born on June 21st 1965 in Calw.
He learned to play the piano and the guitar and began his musical career in 1979 with his first band.
After several projects he formed the band "Fools Garden" together with Peter Freudenthaler in 1990 ("Lemon Tree").
During 1993 he realized his solo project "Hinkel".
In addition to his job as musician, he works as producer as well and composes music for movies and commercials.

Claus Müller was born on May 3rd 1966 in Pforzheim.
He won a local band contest with his band in 1983. Through that fact he did his first recordings in a professional studio.
From 1989-1991 he studied drums in Frankfurt.
He toured for 3 years with the Beatles tribute band "Hard Day's Night" all over Germany and England.
In 1993 he released his first solo CD "Geht' s Noch Schlimmer" with the band "Schlechte Verlierer".
Since 1993 Claus works as a drum teacher.
Through the 90's he played musicals and was the drummer of different cover bands.
In 2000 he founded his own drum school and joined the band Fools Garden in 2003.

Dirk Blümlein was born on July 28th 1968 in Vaihingen/ Enz.
During school he learned to play the flute and the trumpet before finally picking up the bass in 1982.
He studied the bass at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart, toured Europe with the ska band "No Sports" and recorded with various artists from jazz to heavy rock.
Dirk has released 2 solo albums and released the 2nd CD of his own band, the "Dirk Blümlein Terzett", on May 11th 2007 (titled "Freizeitvergnügen").

All accompanied by captivating lyrics, which describe strong feelings and characters, in an atmosphere between dream and hard reality.
This album was recorded at Hinkelstone-Studio near the wonderful Black
Forest in Germany.
It rather took a long time from the first session to the final release!
