I live the life I love, I love the life I live

About Me

Aside from writing, my passion is music and art. I can't imagine being without either. I find inspiration in the oddities of life. I have an incredible sense of humour. I try not to dwell on all that's wrong with the world--I try to find happiness, which is a state of being and usually one that only lasts for a moment--I cherish those "moments."

Book Summary Demen owns a successful magazine. She’s business savvy, but makes poor choices in men. Her latest flame is Adam, a shallow, insecure musician who proves to be another bad choice. Her ex-boyfriend, Bob, pops back in the scene, and she’s both delighted and weary. Demen questions what she really wants while tending to some friends in need. Dollar, her close friend, has returned from a road trip where he’s been beaten by three guys, and she worries how it will affect him. Her best friend, Karyn, is in an abusive relationship, which leaves her feeling helpless in trying to support her. Patience is hard to come by with Karyn, but necessary. She sees Dollar in a new light when he defends her from an unwelcome pass with his newfound strength and maturity. She runs into Bob again, only this time she knows what she wants, and it’s not him.

(see blog for full review)"Lore has painted a masterful portrait of friendships, love, and living. Sometimes the paintings are surreal because you know you have walked this mile; other times, they are so authentic you could be right there with the characters. You can’t help but live in their shoes, become a part of their lives and feel their hearts beating within your own. From the opening of the first chapter you will be captivated – pulled into their colorful lives – the main character – Demen – created. Her friends will become yours – her emotions; given by Lore for you to own in the brilliant way she whirls the colorful existence of each character into colors no eye can ignore."

Hardback ISBN: 0-9765747-3-X
Publisher: Ferrell Tallman Publishing
People react to life's changes in various ways; some people will do anything to stay in control of those changes.
Demen couldn't find a magazine that offered her everything she was looking for, so she started her own. After eight years of making it work, hiring people and expanding to a successful level of publishing, Orange is on the verge of going national. Demen has made it to the big leagues. So why does her office door remain closed with a note posted to "Go ask Jack"? Jack has had all the answers for some time now, acting as the boss and running the show. Karyn, Demen's friend and the Fashion consultant for Orange is worrying over Demen's distancing from the business. Dollar, Demen's best guy friend, decides to take off to find himself on a cross country road trip. A new man enters Demen's life and she finds a new place to hang out and make friends. But why does it feel like she is being consumed by these new distractions? Why does it feel like her whole life is about to change?Thirteen years ago Demen's parents were killed in an airplane crash. Her efforts at developing Orange were an attempt to take control of her life. Now, when the magazine is growing so rapidly, Demen is faced with the reality that she is about to jump into a race that she might lose. She contemplates walking away from it before it can crumble in her hands. Her best friend has gone and she fears that he may not return. She has pushed her girlfriend nearly out of her life. Demen is struggling to control her life's changes out of her fear of losing those things that are most dear to her. It is a struggle we all deal with in life.Rowan Lore has written a story that will hit home with many readers. Her characters are vividly true to life and very interesting to get to know. Their nuances will bring a smile to your face or a nod to your head as you recognize the quirks of your own life. The plot is well done with a neatly wrapped up crescendo to bring home the pinnacle of the story. I would watch for more from Rowan Lore...a promising author on the way to the big leagues.
