About Me

Pulp magazines (so named for the wood pulp paper they were printed on) were very big in the 20s and 30s, before the paper back novel. They were looked down on by the literary elite, but they begat modern detective fiction, science fiction, and racy, shock value adventure and horror stories. Writers such as H.P. Lovecraft, Raymond Chandler, and Dashiel Hammet got their start in the pulps.
Today, as the detective story grows increasingly formulaic or tamed, and science fiction goes the way of the soap opera, we at NexGen Pulp seek to pick up where the glory days of these genres left off. In doing so, we claim a direct descent in a line that has otherwise become muddied and diluted.
We are always accepting submissions and offer yearly subscriptions or single issue purchases from our website. Just click the link
