Time for a Change

04/17/08: It's time to change things around here, because that's what life calls us to do - change... adapt to needs both in our lives and here on Myspace. When I first arrived here I wanted you to know that I'm a writer. Then I faced tragedy and needed you to see me as I was at that time, deeply in need of others who understood. You did your part well - most of you. Well, time has passed and the About Me needed revamping.

My name is John Paul Allen and I'm a horror writer. Ever heard of me? I'll give 2 in 10 odds that you haven't and that's if you read the genre. I'm a lower-level midlister, meaning I've been published a few times with small publishers. It has paid most of the bills, but not much more. That's why the changes here. "My name is John and I write stuff" doesn't do the job anymore. I want you to know about me.

If you look across the page you'll see some of my covers. Not many - I'm still relatively new at this, but enough to show you that someone is probably reading my work or I wouldn't keep getting takers. Below is a list to match the covers:

06/10/07: Writing . . . Lisa . . . reading . . . good coffee . . . homemade beer . . . wine . . . not in that order. OK it's a close running between Lisa and writing, but I'm sure you understand. I love her. Writing is what I love to do.Anything else? Sports - baseball - I'm a Detroit Tiger and Houston Astro fan. In basketball it's the Detroit Pistons. Hockey - the Detroit Red Wings, damn it. That will do for now.

I'd like to meet:

I like meeting people who share interests, particularly those who read and it doesn't matter if they enjoy horror or not. Myspace has given me that chance a number of times. There's nothing I enjoy more than sitting and chatting over a meal or a cup of coffee or whatever.

Music:

It depends on the mood really and instead of listing every group or song I've mutilated in the shower I'll keep it simple and tell you what I listened to recently. I usually have something playing on my page, but someone posted a comment that came with music, thus I had two songs playing at the same time. I'm sure this will be corrected shortly.

Movies:

Same rule as music. Recently I watched,Thank You for Smoking.

Television:

I respect the opinion that television is full of crap, but it's not my outlook unless you're watching Mama's Family. That, no matter how you look at it, is total garbage. OK, there is trash on tv, but we have built in filters (our minds) and in my case I'm able to something worth my time out of just about anything I watch... again, except for Mama's Family.Favorite Shows: Lost, 24, The Office, House
