Homegrown Hero

Go Local.

About Me

.. Homegrown Hero is changing formats and becoming a monthly DVD!!! The new format will be titled Homegrown Hero VM (Video Magazine) and will be introduced to the Central Ohio area in Spring of 2007. The DVD will now include footage of live bands and comedians, live interviews, "on-the-scene" footage and skits...and SO MUCH MORE!Homegrown Hero is the means of rejuvenation for local entertainment in a world in which modern entertainment has become - unfortunately - watered down, overly-produced, and overly-commercial. Inside the "pages" of Homegrown Hero, one will find monthly spotlights on entertainers (music, comedy, art, etc.), venue spotlights, and other spotlighting of an industry-relevant business or entity that offers support or unique services to those striving to be more than just a mere local entertainer. This magazine is STRICTLY positive promotions. If we don't have something nice to say, we won't say it at all. There are too many other local publications doing nothing but spreading negative reviews and bashing the scene instead of supporting it, thus making it harder for the entertainers and venues to drum up regular, true support. Oh....did I mention there are no politics? The first print issue launched August 5, 2006 and was VERY well-received. The magazine is currently indigenous to the Columbus, OH area...however, as time passes and the magazine gains more success, it will start up in other major cities and finally (and hopefully) reaching its aim of local support to the entire nation.Below is a list of spotlights for the current and upcoming issue. For more information, or for the complete online version of each issue, visit us online at www.homegrownhero.net .And remember.......go local. October 2006:Featuring Willie Phoenix, Park Street Tavern, Blue Moon Studio, and Puremetal Studios.September 2006:Featuring Scotty Bratcher, Blues Station, and CD101 Frontstage 101.August 2006:Featuring Thirty Ought Six, CBRs, and Hannibal from 99.7 The Blitz. Embarrased for Columbus....

Well, last night I saw ANOTHER gleaming example and reminder as to why I'm doing this magazine. The Midwest MetalFest, a two-day event at High Five, with almost 30 bands from all over the midwest, had...
