AKA was established in 2004 by electronic musicians Shidoshi & WiKiD. Gaining their influence from groups such as The Crystal Method, Prodigy, Cirrus, Deepsky & Rabbit In The Moon, their yet unnamed project began experimenting with a completely original style unlike anything the Columbus, Ohio music scene had yet experienced. With a direction beyond a simple "Electronica" classification, the project developed into a living musical experiment. The "Digital Duo" continued to compose more diverse & complex material while developing their debut album (as well as their reputation). Encompassing aspects of many influential genres, AKA's sound reaches out to a much wider core audience than most of today's newcommers. WiKiD & Shidoshi finally chose a name to represent the angle from which they create their infectious compositions: ALL KNOWN ASPECTS.
Due to their incredibly unique and complex style, AKA has already attracted the attention of both the video game and major motion picture industries interested in using their material for potential soundtrack arrangements. Their music has generated an amazing amount of interest and positive feedback from rising fans and critics alike while pioneering a completely bold & original approach to the electronic-rock genre.
THE AKA STYLE
AKA's distinct sound and style is truly an artistic expression manifested through an electronically fueled vision - using music as their medium for interpreting spirit & emotion in a way incapable of expression through words alone. While lyrics typically convey specific ideas, views & emotions, AKA's effort allows their audience complete interpretive freedom so that the impression the music inspires evolves with them. In accordance with this belief, much of AKA's material thus far is instrumental - permitting listeners the ability to relate to & identify with it on a more personal level rather than being restricted to a solitary interpretation defined solely through lyrics. The intent is for the same "song" to never have the same meaning for two different listeners. Though AKA's work is not entirely without vocals, their predominant absence allows for their material to be more musically complex so as to "speak" to the listener through the strength of the music's emotion instead of words alone. AKA has taken bold & confident steps toward creating more of an experience than simply a recording or performance - and are finding their efforts worthwhile.
